Niagara Falls

Totally different place but you could have an amazing 7-8 night trip if you fancied going to Rio de Janiero and igauzu falls, which I have heard are better and I can vouch are amazing.

Thanks for all the responses. Will look into (persuade the gf) to do something more than 7 nights at the falls. I definitely want to make the most of my week over there, and seeing more of Canada would be ideal.

Just need to make it fit into the budget

I know it was a few years back but it literally only cost me about £500 I think for flights and the motel. We rented a car for two weeks but they have the go train which is really handy for a lot of places even Niagara

I love the Xmas shop in Niagara on the lake :D

Flight prices are disgusting these days, nothing like even 1 or 2 years ago.

My main tip would be to avoid Buffalo completely, stick to Canada and spend most of your time in Toronto.

Anyone been before?

Looking to go for this summers vacation with the girlfriend, and was just wondering if anyone has any tips or advice for what to do, and places to stay visit when there...

Looking to go for 7 days, so far have found a deal for £670 which is for flights and accommodation (Radisson Hotel). Is this a good price? Seems quite steep to me

Thanks
rk

What side are you going to? Canadian or Yankee?
Canada has the largest bit of the falls. Niagra itself is like a surreal movie themepark for resteraunts (check out the 'jungle cafe') massively generous portions compared to what you're used to here, plus you get doggie bags hehe jusr don't forget to tip the waitress. You could probably see all there is that's really interesting in a day or two. The ex and I saw the falls and a few other bits that were of interest - only thing I missed properly was the hydroelectric museum bit near the park and ride stop downriver of the falls; it's meant to be quite impressive, if you like large scale engineering stuff...

Also if you're doing the canada side of things, there's quite a lot of vineyards/wineries around niagra - lots of good wines from large to small producers (Cattail Creek was my favourite small winery thing... lovely merlot mmmm) - worth a day out if somebody else is driving. Just remember to put any bottles you buy in the boot of your car as it's illegal in canada to drive with alcohol in the passenger compartment

Can Niagara Fall residents just casually walk between each side on that rainbow bridge or do they have to show passports and the like every single time?

I've been and was totally underwhelmed. I didn't do the boat ride though, so maybe that would have impressed me. It's also incredibly tacky - Hard Rock Cafe, etc. However, it's on the way to Toronto from the US, so it's worth having a look. No more than a couple of hours though.

Niagara is a boring town with 1 and only 1 attraction. It's great for a day or two, but that's about it.

Stay in Toronto, it's an awesome city :)

Ive been a few times when i lived in Canada, its quite good few attractions mostly few blocks away (depending on where you stay). If you choose hilton there's a casino across road with shops but this is liek rich of rich shopping place with Diamonds and Gucci (or stuff like that)

Also i think its a distant and a bit but there's marine world!

You can get a cheapish coach from Toronto too. Greyhound or similar, spend the day there and come back. I wouldnt bother with a guided tour. as was quite dear.

Its great to visit and an amazing sight ( i went in Feb with huge lumps of Ice everywhere ) , but Niagara itself is a bit like putting Skegness next to a huge waterfall.

I'd plan to go elsewhere and as others mentioned, if flying from / to Toronto plan it into a days visit on the way out / way back.
