BF3 In game Frame rate causes issues such as stuttering, Msi Afterburner frame rate limiter does not. Google the above ^ ;)

I don't use either, hate any tearing full stop

Are you saying that the "gametime.maxvariablefps" causes stuttering? While the Afterburner FPS limiter does not?

at 60fps limit i get tearing, 55 or 62, none.

What about 59?

MSI Afterburner is still causing BSOD's with Bad Company 2 and Battlefield 3?

No stuttering with the afterburner limiter. Ive so far only tried it with 55 and 62. Both had no tearing, but 60 had. Ill have a bit more of a playabout with it.

So, went on LtMatt's server for the first time tonight. Operation Metro was... interesting. Was about 5v5 until we were down to around 250 respawns, then picked up. Strangely enough, the more people appeared, the more RPG spam started happening :p

Ended up getting 35 ribbons overall, which ain't too shabby. Scored just under 24k after unlocks/ribbons.

I remember that PunkBuster could crash the PC cause of RTFcore.cfg, which is a file of Afterburner used for low level voltage monitoring.

PunkBuster is still having issues with this file(or anyone else)?

Havent had any crashes yet with this beta version of AB. Renaming rtcore.cfg helped a lot with bfbc2 and the last official version of AB. I kept it renamed when bf3 was released.

You can just rename it for whatever you want?

And when you say "helped a lot" you mean that the crash could still occur, but less often?

Those VTEC guys were annoying.

Just unlocked the M60. What a beast of an LMG. Had great fun with it.

Thought I'd try ultra again after playing with high settings the last few weeks, hoping performance would be better with new drivers and patches etc...

Those saying there isnt a big enough difference between high and ultra are just plain wrong.

Massive difference! Try playing for a few weeks at high settings and then switching back!

Your be blown away!

Yep, i named it setter lol. It prevented a lot of crashes where the game would emit a loud brrrrring sound before locking up and requiring a hard reset. Bfbc2 suffered from a few other issues as well, above x4 aa on certain nv drivers caused issues as well. But by renaming rtcore i never had anymore brrrring lock ups.

Textures maybe but everything else changes in game and the difference is tiny.

for the performance hit you get its not worth playing at ultra tbh

also most of the extra addons actually make it more blurry or less clear

Yeh, thanks Neil

:rolleyes::cool::cool::p

I admit, it was all you bro! :) You der' man bruv! :) :)

Also, with you don't wanna use MSI Afterburner, you can limit your FPS using the command "gametime.maxvariablefps <int>"

Limit it to 59, for 60Hz monitors or 119 for 120Hz.

Also, what would be the best AMD driver and CAP for CrossfireX with this game?

In game stutters, as below!

12.1a preview and cap 2 are best for me. Apparently stops stuttering seen in CF - see my graphs above

Well what a massive disappointment the B2K maps are, in this I mean it really highlights how different BF3 is to BF2. They make look similar but they play nothing like they did in BF2, the faster pace of BF3 just takes the edge off. It's a shame but I should have expected as much. They are decent maps in their own right and will sit well in BF3, but they have left me cold to be honest.

Okay come on, please post your 5 differences between BF2 and BF3 as you see it. Me personally, I hated BF2 because I had no-one to play with. I joined TFU when BC2 came out and raped it. So I decline to comment

I love BF3 though!

So, please post your top 5 differences below

Chars!

I just find them to be a snipe fest myself, My mate doesn't have them so I've only clocked up 30 odd minutes on them in total though.

Still find it easier to spot at lower settings .... full ultra on a 23" 1080p screen ... is a definite visit to specsavers.

Proper Command Rose.

Mini-map you could place orders on.
Map design that allowed real strategy.
No stupid overdone post processing.
