** ATI 7970 NOW IN STOCK & AVAILABLE!! **

Wow! That's a chunk of change.

Would SLI 570 HD 2.5 be better?

/edit is this card really worth £200 more than a single 570 HD 2.5?

Is it better in performance? yes...£200 worth of money better....no

Given they are mostly all reference with a different sticker it's mad the price differences

I don't think the prices are all that bad, I was expecting £500 min, found vtx ones for around £429.

Still out of my price range, wasn't planning an upgrade until the summer anyhow, should have more on Kepler by then.

Couple off questions about the ocuk one's .....

1.Is this a pre-order price only ?

2.Are they Black PCB's like in the picture

3.What make are they Palit/Sparkle ?

Oh the lulz. Powercolor on a large american site for $549. After conversion etc and 20% they should be about £425, so UK retailers adding on about 50 quid.

Enjoy it while you can AMD, Nvidia will be along soon to put you in your place.

Not really, powercolor are selling for only a £20 margin in the UK vs the US and that can easily be accounted for by higher import duties in the UK

America adds sales tax after the sale so its not included in the advertised price.

The performance no way justifies the price. Why is there no price gouging in the Us?

Actually the answer is quite simple, they will not pay if they believe something is overpriced and not worth the money. US citizens have forced down the cost of 'gas' previously by boycotting certain gas stations. They will not overpay and the retailers know it and therefore price accordingly. Now uk citizens on the other hand, well......... look for yourself.:(

Holy cow, I think for the first time ever i'm seeing GPU's on launch day being cheaper over here than it is in the UK...the ASUS one being 555.75 Euro or £458

About £100 cheaper lol

Now i'm loyal to OCUK - love the great service - but £100 difference seems quite a lot. I'm happy to pay £20-£40 extra to get something (at least something expensive) from a preferred supplier but it does seem a bit extravagant.

Too few people running the required resolutions that can warrant spending the money on one of these. The panic buying we say when the 5870 and 5850 were released will not be seen again!

Guys are all of these 7970's essentially the same cards? ie I've read that Gibbo have managed to OC the arse of his one but is that due to any desogn differences in the one he's been playing with against any of the other brands?

In other words, it there really anything to justify spending £520 on one or £420 on one (a powercolour from a competitor) right now?

All reference design except one, the "Black Edition" which hasn't had great reviews anyway
