:) Heres some pics for ya to make up for it lol

Seems I'm using older drivers than everyone else which is probably why my 3dmark11 score is lower - be warned guys, out of the box drivers are much older than 11.12's, and if you have an nvidia card already with the latest drivers be prepared to rebuild your system!! 3dmark11 was giving me scores of 4000 until I rebuilt (thank you nvidia drivers)

How quiet is it while gaming if you don't mind me asking? :)

And have you tried overclocking it yet?

shock as you are changing one brand to another and the drivers cause problems. wow who would have thought.

Fanboys like you sir should stick to the other threads which you've been trolling ;)

FYI - I had NO problems uninstalling ATI drivers to move to an Nvidia card (albiet temporarily). The problem occured removing the Nvidia drivers to move back to the new ATI card. Always had problems with nvidia drivers, so this was nothing new and a rebuild was overdue anyways.

thanks mate, think the only thing left to cover is noise of the fan.

It's VERY quiet in normal 2D useage (i.e. windows) and even gaming/3d benching whilst at stock clocks it was still VERY quiet. however, as soon as I started overclocking - the fan became audible - but still bearable (bearing in mind I have watercooling geared towards noise reduction).

HOWEVER - I performed a quick test - set the fan manually to 100% - HOLY POOPOOKAKA! - Now thats loud!!. Sounded like i'd just turned the vac on next to my ear!.

Bring on the waterblocks already!!

oh no.....I can put up with noise but my mrs is a different story. Watercooled me thinks would be ideal :)

Ah xD a few seconds too late for my first comment. :p

Cheers for the feed back. :D

Very quiet whilst gaming - noise only ramped up after I overclocked it to its CCC limit.

This was using the dodgy out of the box drivers. With proper drivers someone using a powercolor on another forum scored 9,500 (same clocks 1125/1525)

so why don't you download the latest drivers and show us a new score?

how can he be a fanboy if he clearly has both nvidia and ati cards?

read the silly comments in this thread see post 14 for un-edited version. anyway I don't care so carry on.

have you got any scores speeds with newer drivers?

With anything new there will always be teathing problems, due to the astronomical difference in setups we all have. I don't mind spending money on something new and I can put up with early problems. I keep looking and returning looking and returning...what to do what to do WHAT TO DO......

Because
A)- I am at work now
B)- I looked last night thinking 12.1a would be the natural driver to install, but it didn't upgrade anything but Catalyst Manager
C)- Spent last night rebuilding my system (thanks nvidia ;) )
D)- More interested in gaming performance than silly benchies tbh

shall I go-on? ;)

I'll try the newer drivers when I get home mate, but hopefully some members should have their cards by then and add to this topic.

tbh I'm more interested in gaming benches, so you have some work to do when you get home ;)

Thanks for taking the time to let us know your results fella. When you have time I would be interested in the new drivers and any gains this brings please.

As long you don't overclock it - trust me, there is NO noise at all - your system fans will be noisier tbh.

It's when you start overclocking it gets higher but even then its next to nothing. I only did a quick test to see what the fan was like at fullwhack - thats loud but you should never have to use it at 100%

The 12.1a patch thing doesn't install new drivers, it keeps 11.12. Nonetheless, here's a bench in Heaven at CCC max clocks 1125/1575. Equivalent to 470SLI/6950CF.

On my PowerColor, during Heaven bench, the fan sound wasn't overly instrusive tbh, but agree, when manually ramped to 100% OMG :O

I went onto the AMD website and it said it couldn't recognise my card lol :)
Think its the 11.12 drivers I need.

I'm looking forward to official WHQL drivers from AMD for these - they should show us even more gains, and as drivers mature we'll hopefully see even better performance from these cards.

I agree with this guy thanks for spending the time contributing to this thread.

I do feel like selling my gtx470's, their the loudest thing in my case right now. :(

Still going to wait and see if the prices drop a little bit.

:D:D:D - Don't see the fans needing to be up that high anyway - so chill guys - its not noisy unless you set it to that lol.
