you do it on the ready page before the loading screen, go into player roles and select captain and your free kick takers, once the match has started you cannot change captain unless he is subbed off.

Ah yeah, nice one, forgot all about that, usually default to Ibra as cpatain for me as he is highest rated, then if I'm winning, he comes off and on comes Heskey to sail the boat in for the win!! :D

just found a really easy way to look at traits, etc and i found out new traits i never even knew of:

1. http://www.ultimatedb.nl/
2. Player Databas (not trading)
3. Define your search
4. Click Find

Been doing this for ages, I'm pretty sure everyone else who uses ultimate db has been doing it as well. Makes MUCH more sense than your previously recommended method of going into the standard game mode and looking the regular non UT players.

just found out Xavi has the "injury free" trait which must mean he is impossible to injure or a lot harder to injure than other players.

Not impossible, just harder. From memory Roberto Carlos has it as well, and he's been injured for me a few times in the past so they're not impossible to injure, just less likely to be injured than someone like van Persie.

also just found out there is an "argues with officials" trait, i dont know if that makes any difference? may mean he gets booked for dissent? or sent off more often that others for similar tackles, etc?

It's nothing to do with getting sent off. It's that hugely annoying thing where they get tackled and then they stand up waving their arms around in protest as the play carries on. Usually when you manage to win the ball back and want to pass to them they're still complaining about the tackle that happened 5 minutes beforehand. Someone already answered it though I can't be sure as I'm too cool to read posts on an internet forum. ;)

oh there is a "dives into tackles" trait as well, Mascherano has it and im betting David Luiz has it also, shock horror Luiz doesn't have it, but i found he constantly dove into tackles automatically, may be an error in database

Are you for real? Must be an error in the database because you personally think X players has a trait doesn't make it so.

Cisse has "poacher", "selfish" and "argues with officials", not too sure what selfish does tbh, he doen't like it when other people shoot instead of passing? and does the whole arguing thing i think, that must be it.

Poacher is good at scoring in the box, argues with officials we already answered and selfish means they try and do stupid things like he tries to intercept passes that are blatantly intended for other team mates. For example RW crosses to LW for a tap in at the far post but Cisse intercepts it in the middle even if there's another defender right there or if the keeper is standing near him or whatever. Selfish.

also not too sure what the leader trait does, Alonso and Di Natale have it, must mean they make good captains? may try making them captains from now on.

No idea what the leader trait does, maybe it gives players who share links with them a morale boost or something, it's not reflected anywhere so it's hard to say outside of asking someone from EA.

robinho has the "diver" trait, no idea what that does, maybe he is easier to push off the ball or to the ground?

Diver trait is pretty self explanatory, he's more likely to dive from the result of a soft challenge in order to fool the ref. Pretty crap trait in all honesty.

chiellini has the avoids weaker foot trait, must be why he is awful with over the top through balls

Avoids weak foot hasn't got anything to do with defending or heading, it's to do with which foot they choose when they pass or shoot and it isn't a total conclusion as to which foot they'll use anyway. If the ball is ready for a shot on their left side they won't always automatically switch to the right, it depends on where the ball is in relation to the player, as well as other factors like opponent defenders positions relative to your player. Basically all those times where you're clean through and annoyingly your striker misses left or right because he used his weak goddamn foot, this trait usually eradicates that.

Why no chance?

I got TOTY Casillas.

I won't be trying for the midfielders though, I don't have a spanish team so little point of me trying to get them. I'll be aiming for Rooney, or Messi ;) :D

well literally obviously there is a chance, but it's really small.

you and mark are the only ones who got TOTY players in packs, mark spent 500K and got Vidic in his last pack, so he got extremely lucky, in fact both of you did, it's just he got lucky in the sense he made all his coins back and more on top.

there is hardly any chance of pulling a TOTY player they are even harder to pull than an IF, now there are no IF's being released because there is no TOTW this week either. EA have messed it up this year. there are only 3 special cards you can pull from 6pm onwards tonight. whereas before it used to be a minimum of 15.

it's a lot more than that, its the foot they use to control the ball with, even if the ball is closer to their weak foot they will still use their strong foot. IF Johnson had this problem with me a lot as i ran down the wing, he only ever uses his left to control the ball, even if you try and switch to his right. ive even had a one on one situation, i purposely knocked the ball onto a players left foot and they used their right and instead of finessing and curling round the keeper, they fluffed the shot.

so this may mean when a ball gets played to someone they may try and control it with their strong foot "ie Chiellini" even though it would be a much better option to control with their left, which then ends up with him missing the ball altogether because he tried using the wrong leg.

so does the diver trait mean they win more free kicks? or just that they go down more easily?

balotelli has diver too iirc

sold david villa last night for 68k, im now sitting on 118k with plenty to sell yet.

i cant find aguero for cheaper than 80K but ive seen tevez as low as 40K. is he not very good?

It DOESN'T completely rule out the usage of the other foot altogether. And I don't know what your problem with Chiellini is because the man is an absolute war horse at both ends of the pitch.

Ive found him alright, other people cant get on with him though, on the same token, ive never had Aguero do anything good for me and ive bought him about 5 times.

i know it doesn't they will use it on extremely rare occasions or you really force them to do so.

he can't deal with over the top through balls, this year due to tactical defending even more people use these than last year.

so it doesn't matter how good you are at the game, the fact he can't deal with them is outwith your control, he lost two easy over the top balls in a row when i used him, sometimes he goes for the header and falls over, meaning a clear one on one or he misses and lets the guy through.

this is the only thing i dont like, last year he was the best "normal" CB in the game and his IF was the best "special" one. this year he is also very good but the fact he cannot deal with a simple task makes him useless against anyone who uses them.

is it worth changing LM nani to RM? ive just got bale for 25k and ive got young aswell.

I've got all 3 for rotation as well, my preference used to be on cutting in, so Young on the left and Bale on the right, but now I prefer them crossing more so Young right, Bale left. Nani I certainly like less than the other two but just keep him for backup for fitness, I think I got mine yesterday for 9k.

edit: sorry double post fail :( **

so cause you can't use him then he is rubbish? maybe you just time your jump very badly no defender is ever going to be perfect.

aguero has flair, this means he does some things other players cannot do and sometimes does them automatically, the reason why he seems to just float past defenders is because high pace, high dribbling with agility balance and "flair" is a lethal combination.

IF Balotelli is another player who automatically skips past players sometimes.

Silva, IF Ramos, IF Pepe and Lucio have been rocks so far, in fact the weakest one imo is IF Pepe.

i dont have the coins yet to buy back IF Ramos, but hopefully will do soon enough.

Chiellini on paper looks better than Lucio being a lot faster but in game is a different story. It's not just me who doesn't get on with him, a lot of people don't the reason why you see Silva and Lucio in Serie A setups, the only people who use Chiellini are the ones who cannot afford Silva.

All the things that Miccoli has, but apparently Cisse is better? :p
