US marines urinated on bodies of taliban fighters

The act of revenge or venting some anger by civilised human beings is taken against the living not by desecrating dead bodies. What they are doing is disgusting and cannot be justified in this day and age. These troops are just ill disciplined red necked barbarians and are a disgrace to the uniform they are serving in.

Irrelevant.

I don't condone ****ing on people either way :p but to some it makes a difference, unfortunately. I do not believe in this war, how many terrorist attacks have there actually been in comparison to the innocent people that have died as a result of the US (and our) occupation.

The purpose of a soldier is to win a war, not to kill everyone who crosses their path.

the coalition is also there to try and restore order and to be looked upon as a guiding light to a broken society, this pushes everything backwards and smashes a big chunk out of the respect aspect.

It's war. These guys would have shot you in the face without remorse if you give them the opportunity. I don't see why the outrage. It's like above, they might have seen friends mutilated by IEDs or whatever.

I can't believe people are being sympathetic towards the taliban.

"The Taliban" are people those guys getting pee'd on were fighting for the right reason, for their country / way of life for what they believe in.

the yank troops are fighting for money and because they were told to be someone else... they have vastly superior equipment and support.

I don't trust anything the yanks say, its jsut as likely the troop came under fire from "someone" the next day they spotted a few guys with guns and killed them... anyone is taliban over there a lot of poeple carry guns and the taliban do not wear uniforms...

I see no problem here, the taliban are a disgusting cancerous blight on the human race and and i can hardly call them human.

The war won't be won.

That's a political point, rather than a comment on the nature of war.

But typically you win wars by killing enough of the enemy until they surrender.

Yes and no. You win a war by dismantling the enemy's war machine. That can be done in myriad ways - killing them all, killing their leader, sabotaging their resources, breaking their supply chains... Some means are more violent than others.

That's what they did, killed the enemy.

I have no complaint about them killing the soldiers (assuming there was nothing questionable about that, which I've no evidence of), I have every complaint about them urinating on the bodies.

When your commanding officers spend all day building up working, meaningful relationships with local leaders and citizens then your troops literally wee all over your hard work, I imagine it does kind of make your future position a bit difficult.

if we pretend to be morally superior than an enemy we have to at least cover up these things better.

Fire bullets at them = fine.

Fire urine at them = THINK OF THE CHILDREN.

Having read the thread, seems a lot of people on these boards just enjoy having the opposite opinion for the complete sake of it (not saying any side of the argument here is right or wrong) and trying to spark debate!
