Dead Space 2 £3.75 on Steam

Ive got a copy of it too, may have to give it a whirl. Stopped playing because it decided to C2D just before a checkpoint and I couldnt be bothered to do it all over again :(

Once you hit a certain age nothing is scary. The only time I was scared was when I saw hellraiser 1 as a kid. Now at 32 not one movie/game scares me, I just find them entertaining.

Completely agree. It's ironic that the only age when you're not supposed to watch horror films/ play horror games, is the only age when they actually achieve what they set out to do. Saying that I do still love horror, but as you say its just entertaining rather than scary.

I believe they are already unlocked on the PC, steam updates it so all the stuff is unlocked. Makes playing the 2nd part pointless. I have it all unlocked and now I can't be bothered to play it, I can find no way to remove all the unlocked stuff. My retail disc version was after an update so I bet steam does as well.

I am in exactly the same boat, it has taken the fun out of playing it. I have the steam version - it applies to all the pc versions.

Absolutely no re-playability in these two games once completed so they are off my steam shopping list having played through both. Still if you have not played them then they are great buys at current price on steam.

mm Emo_hug vs Dead Space 1, Loads game, watchs intro, crashlands, gets to reception/quarantine. lights go out, alarms blear things appear, dies, turns game off....

mm will come back to this when i've had wine and very chilled and mellow (going to take me a long time to finish this one).

reason i wont get dead space 2 and the new C&C series is primarily for the DRM, Tags is better than EA's C&C stuff but still it puts me off since i change pcs and operating system quite regularly depending on whats going on and were i am..

Bought the pack... I am a real pansy when it comes to scary games but didn't find DS1 too bad, will see how I get on with DS2!

I caved and brought both aswell!
Damn steam are their to good to resist deals!
How do I find time between the job, the girlfriend, BF3, Skyrim, Orcs must die.
Ive still got all the GTA's from when they had them for a fiver to play, and bastion, and terraria or what ever its called lol!

Am i right in thinking this is along the same lines as the early resident evil series except set in space and not zombies?

Is it the same Engine as DS1? Couldn't play that due to motion sickness :(.

I experienced quite marked queasiness playing the first game too. Used to set-in within about ten minutes or so.
Couldn't understand at first, never been troubled with motion sickness before.

Seems to be down to the ever-on-the-move, scaling-in-scaling-out camera position, over which you don't have proper control. Narrow field of view doesn't help either.

Playing with the lights on, sitting slightly farther back from the monitor sorted it out. Queasiness wasn't so bad, and disappeared totally after an hour of play. Fine on subsequent stints too.
The feeling only returned if I came back to the game after several days absence, but providing I played with the lights on, it was mild and disappeared quickly once I become accustomed to the antics of the camera again.

I have Dead-Space 2 sitting here on Steam awaiting installation, but theres such a backlog of stuff from previous Steam sales it'll likely be a while before I get round to trying it.

Epic games, both of them. Dead space 1 was scarier overall although it is in no way better than dead space 2. DS2 does everything the first did and expands upon it, perfect sequel really.

Got DS2 during the Xmas sales and its one of the biggest dissapointments ever, Played for about half and hr and dont think ill ever play it again.

DS1 was a RPG/shooter/horror, but DS2 is just a generic shooter console port which tries to do horror.

Did you guys turn v-sync off? It ran smoother and may help with that issue. I don't know

Yeah tried it first with vsync on and it felt very choppy. Turns out ingame vsync limits the game to just 30fps. Turning it off makes the game a lot smoother but renders way more frames than I need.

Anyone on ATI cards tried forcing AA in CCC? By default the game has a horrible amount of jaggies
