if he has witness' and you were drunk, I would apologize pay for the damage and bung the guy and extra ton on top and hope he drops the charges (if there are any)

Don't believe a word that comes out of a police officer's mouth when they're looking for charges to pin on you. Never attend a police interview without a solicitor.
Since you are facing a criminal charge I would recommed you seek professional legal advice. Sorry bud, it doesn't look good.

I'm struggling to believe that you managed to break a window b punching it. Those things are designed to resist bricks. Your hand is a lot softer than a brick.
They are a lot easier to break if they aren't fully closed.
To be honest, I would rather make it quick for everyone to clear up. Pay the taxi excess, take the charge (I have already anyway) and put it down to being too drunk and dont put my arms in any more taxi windows
Which it would have been with my arm stuck in it. This also backs up my case if taxi windows are very strong when wound up. Although he would just say it was wound down a bit still
The incident sounds as if came from a slapstick silent movie. From what you are saying the driver has attempted bodily harm by driving off with you stuck in the window. The very first thing you do tomorrow is to get hold of a solicitor and I’d be inclined to ring friends and family tonight to see if they can recommend one.
If you're confident you were hard done by, have evidence to this effect and believe the taxi drive was simply a nutter then have your day in court and sue his backside off. However, if you got gobby and all hard nut because you'd had a shandy, pay the man and put it down to experience.
