Dilemma. iphone or Android....?

I got about the same battery life out of my iPhone 4 and SGS2 running Nimphetamine kernel... 2 days was quite easy.

In my experience the iPhone 4 has by far and away the best battery life of all modern smartphones. Its sub/0.5% hour idle drain and fairly low screen time drain (due to the size of course, and your personal brightness settings) is very good.

That said, if you use any of these devices a lot, the battery does deplete quite rapidly. You'll want something with a spare battery or in the case of an iPhone, a portable charging pack/car charger, etc.

The 4S battery should be roughly the same as the iPhone 4, there are just issues between iOS5 and the iPhone 4S hardware... I'm not sure what's causing it but some people are getting brilliant battery life from it, and in other cases it's terrible.

If you dont like my opinion then ignore it.
The SGS2 out-performs the iPhone 4/4s in every sense.

and once again, IMO, anyone who buys an iPhone is buying it to pose.
Why else would you spend more money on something that does less than something that is cheaper with much more functionality?

I'm getting excellent battery time on my S2, everything except Bluetooth on, only syncing Google and Whatsapp. playing about 30 mins of music on headphones, some web browsing 30-40 texts from 8AM and bed at 12:30 ish and still on 70% + battery, I've went in to the 3rd day with this kind of usage but didn't want it to suddenly die whilst I was at work!

Black background, and a few news widgets and clock type widgets also running.

Appstore, different OS, support, brand, fashion product?

Build quality, camera and screen resolution are also better on the iPhone.

Some people find SGS2 too large or not as easy to use as iPhones.

You clearly know very little about the devices in question, so I'm politely advising you not to comment until you've done some research. :)

I'm not an iPhone guy, love playing around tinkering too much for that :p but certainly nothing wrong with them, a few mates at work have them and of course we have our little tease over what each Os/Phone is like but you can't say they're not great phones and IOS is VERY GOOD, especially, IMO if you want something that just works.

As you said its good if you just want something to work, for me i like to tinker so it would bore me to tears.

Camera quality?
This is the 1st pic i took with the SGS2.

Appstore?
Android Market, blackmart, snappz, applanet.

Build quality?
Look at an iPhone in the wrong way and the screen cracks.

Screen res? (pulled from wiki)
iPhone 4S - 640×960 < tft
SGS2 - 800×480 < WVGA Super AMOLED Plus

Ease of use?
If they cant use a touchscreen then why are they shopping for a touchscreen phone?

Robbo, well done for making an assumption based on my 2 posts. The smart/clever/mature thing to do would to ask what I base my opinions on.
So I'm politely asking you to stop assuming things.
Thanks.

Pls dude, this argument has been had a million times and really does'nt need to be relived.

I fail to see how showing a good photo taken with a phone proves it's the best?

Appstore?
Android Market, blackmart, snappz, applanet.

Erm?

Same goes for the Galaxy S II, the back of the iPhone isn't hardened glass and that is normally what breaks. So again, what?

Oh dear...

Your posts weren't helpful, they were garbage and as I said, you clearly know very little. Don't comment (in an authoritative manner) on things you don't know much about.

You're quite obviously just another 'my phone is the best but I don't know why...' person.

Pls dude, this argument has been had a million times and really does'nt need to be relived.

Don't worry, I'm happy to educate him.

Robbo, please, stop being a ***.

Once again, it is my opinion so stop being a nazi and let me voice it.

I'd rather rely on reference pictures than your photo with no comparison.

I'm not saying that either camera is bad but, arguably, the iPhone 4s' camera is better.

Appstore?
Android Market, blackmart, snappz, applanet.

App Store is moderated to a much higher degree than Android Market which may be both an advantage and disadvantage. There is a lot more apps on the App Store too (even though this trend is changing nowadays).
Build quality?

Sure...

Screen res? (pulled from wiki)

What has panel type to do with resolution?

iPhone 4S has 60% more pixels.

Ease of use?

It's more about phone's interface, some people may find iPhones easier to operate. Let's just say that TouchWiz is not an ideal UI.

How can you ask someone to "stop assuming things" when you call every iPhone user a poser yourself?

that is cheaper with much more functionality?

personally i got better battery life , played better games , had a better camera and could listen to music for longer. so cant see how that is less functionality

i could jailbreak and mod it as much as i personally needed too and i didn't have to spend hours on XDA trying kernel after kernel after rom trying to squeeze extra out of the battery

someone above claims 3 hours as great :/ personally i don't.

yes my GS2 is cheaper and yes it very nearly does what i want as good as my iPhones did but i know which id rather use every day if money was no object

intact there only ONE thing I've done on my past android phones that i couldn't do on my iPhones and thats google navigation which is actually very handy

I think the better games argument is becoming obsolete these days, better battery life is arguable, as Robbo stated before, in normal use you'd not notice much of a difference.

Don't pick on the "3h of screen on time" as some of us get more than that and I doubt you'd get much more on the iPhone.

The camera may be better than it is on the SGS2 (although in not every situation if you compare the reference photos as colour grading is way off, same with the grayscale parts) but it's not the best mobile phone camera around.

You don't need to try many kernels to have a solid working Android phone so that part is also pretty poor.

I think it's very much a preference thing when you compare phones like SGS2 and iPhone 4S. I know which one I'd choose, you pick your own too but it's hardly certain which phone is objectively better.

CaNsA, this is a discussion forum. If you post rubbish, expect to be criticised.

If you don't like that and start throwing insults around and blubbering like a child, I suggest you go elsewhere.

I would consider myself a reasonably anti Apple guy, and I have to say that I actually quite like the iPhone 4 (and 4s). I thought the 3's were terrible with camera quality, and really hyped. I believe the 4's are now of a good quality (and good looking) and worth buying. However, I'm not into being locked into what Apple wants me to be locked into.. otherwise.. I'd buy one.

If you want battery life, there are many options open to you. Are you a heavy user though?
