Piracy - Today's Discussion

I just don't understand it at all. I honestly can't work out what's going on in the minds of Ubisoft to put these systems in place.

Despite loving the PoP series and having owned the console versions years ago, they're pretty much the only games I didn't buy in the steam Christmas sale because of Ubisoft's previous actions...and it's only getting worse.

Will I pirate them? No I won't, I'd rather just forget about them and Ubisoft full stop. It will be a joyous day when people stop bothering to even look at their games nevermind pirate them.

:mad::mad::mad:

It is hard though as they have the GRAW series, speaking of GRAW why is 1 and 2 totally different on the PC, ie they are FPS and not third person and the PC versions have no cover?

I've never pirated a game. I tried to once, a long time ago. It never worked properly. Now I can't be arsed. Always seems like such a hassle. Even replacing discs for games that are hard to come by is a pain.

I was tempted to buy Anno 2070 over christmas then realised it was a ubisoft title and didn't bother, and very glad I didn't now. I won't touch any of their titles anymore, a company like that don't deserve my money.

Very glad I trialled this game before buying - would have been tempted to get the full version before this news, but the only Ubisoft title I've bought in recent years was a horrible let-down (HoMM VI) and had real issues letting me play the game. It's already on Steam, why add further bullcrap DRM?

Oh well, I haven't missed out on anything since not buying their games that required a constant connection, doubt I'll miss out on anything now either .

Steam stopped me from pirating games, as (apart from the paying part :o) it's an easier and more convenient way to get games than pirating them (and that's saying a lot, considering how easy and convenient it is to pirate games :p).

I have used a few no cd's for stuff that ive already bought, and oh i used to tape the top 40 from the radio when i was a kid, sorry for hurting your profits big pub.

I will also be avoiding 2070

It's been at the point for a while now, where upon seeing the Ubisoft logo, I instantly lose any interest I had in a game.

Reason I haven't and won't buy Anno 2070, despite it looking like a great game.

I'm undecided on who is worse between Activision and Ubisoft - it's as if they're competing for bottom place, except Activision is evil and Ubi is just run by clueless monkeys.

I gave my brother some money for the game as he was annoyed with it and did not like the ubisoft launcher one bit. So I played it but the game wouldn't work as the key was registered to him. I gave them proof of purchase and wanted it registered to me, no reply. I felt like pirating it just to say **** ubisoft, however he gave me his account so i'm using that instead.

Doubtful i'll buy ANY ubisoft titles again

But I bet according to ubisoft's failed logic I must be a pirate

LOL but wait, don't go replacing that memory or sound card that'l be another activation. Ubisoft are a bunch of bleep

I really wanted to play this game in all honesty as many city building/micromanagement games lately just haven't cut the mustard with me.

I could pirate it, but to be honest I can't be bothered, I'll just spend my cash on something else (not from UBIsoft). Same story with all the AC games.

Well, I can honestly say I have not bought a Ubisoft game of late (unless it's been really cheap in a Steam Sale) for exactly those reasons, restrictive DRM that leaves me uncertain as to whether or not I will be able to play it when I want to. Oh, and the fact that by the time they make it to pc I've all but forgotten about their latest release.

Their own DRM is what is causing the massive amount of piracy of their games, even people who buy the game sometimes end up having to pirate it just to play.

I have not bought an Ubisoft game full stop since AC2, such a shame as AC1 was very good. Punishing your paying customers is idiotic and they need to be beatena round the head with it until it sinks in or they dissolve and a proper developer replaces them. The worst part is apparently their silly DRM didn't even stop the pirates anyway, it only punishes their paying customers. Bad business, end of.

I bought Beyond Good and Evil on Green Man Gaming a while back. I can't play it because of the DRM. The game would work fine on my system, but TAGES is having none of it. If i knew how to pirate then i would definitely consider it...

Is Rise of Flight the only game that has not been cracked? If so, I wonder why- did they enter some mysterious agreements with the dark forces?:)

well it has quite an extensive free to play option that most people will try to see if they like the game plus, it's not the easiest game to create a server for so not much point in cracking it.

It was also cracked way back in 2009 but nothing new seems to have been for it.
