How much do you think this BMW would deprecate in 3 years?

Had a 2.0TDI Eos for a courtesy car once, apart from the comically slack steering making it somewhat like driving a real life mario kart, the dagdagdag noise while sitting in traffic was the worst thing about the car. I think you've got to be complete tonto (or a woman blinded by MPGzzzzzz figures) to even consider buying a diesel convertable when there are far superior petrol engines on the go for it.

I think it's important to know whether or not you actually have £30k in cash and how much you want to spend running a car, because picking £30k 2ltr diesels makes no sense

Why are you intent on spending so much on something so ordinary?

If you want a 325i convertible then great! It's a decent engine and a nice car. Buy one for £15k instead.

You dont need £25,000 to drive a current shape 3 Series Cabrio. You don't even need to worry about bills when you have the BMW warranty, either, which you can buy for any BMW.

Whats wrong with that?

Get a 330i as its going to cost about the same to run as a 325i, as fox says Its really not worth spending 20k on a 3 series now.

You should take a 330i and a 335i out on a test drive and see how you feel about them.

This is just a bizarre thread, I mean does he want a 200bhp petrol or an economical diesel and does he have £25k or £35k or what

You will get 1 year of warranty with any used car from BMW. If you know what you are doing you can haggle a second year in. You can then renew it - its only about £500 a year for the top level of cover with BMW.

Any BMW will have problems - it doesnt matter if its 6 months old or 6 years old.

Seriously this gen 3 Series is beginning to become old news. Don't drop 25k+ on one! There is no need. The E9x generation is closing.

My last car was a 2.5 mk4 mondeo.

I'm just worried spending 15-17k on a BMW when if anything goes wrong it's mega bucks. My dad had 2 530d's from new and had problems with both.

Roughtly how much would an extended warrenty be with BMW? Or would something like warrentys direct be better?

You get a years warranty with AUC cars which can be extended for a few hundred pounds a year (depends on mileage and the type of car, you can run a quote online with the reg at www.bmw-warranty.co.uk)

Something like this looks pretty good:

Yer just been looking at that 1 ss.

I live in Leicester as well so only down the road from me, might have to have a popper over tomorrow....offer them 15k :)

The ONLY 3 series you should be blowing £30K on is the one with the 4.0 V8, and a nice DCT gearbox. ;)

I'm going to assume you're not in the market for one of those mind, so go with the advice here and drop a lot less. Or keep it and put it towards an F30.

Well I went over today and spent a couple hours at Stratstone in derby.

I had forgot how nice the 330 engine sounded, my old boy had a 330 clubsport some years back and apart for the horrid smg auto box it was a fairly rapid car.

But after a good half hour chatting after test drive they didn't seem to want to give me a penny of sticker. I made it clear I liked the car but was above what I wanted to pay....more so after the 2 services where not carries out at BMW.

Question for you fox as you seem too now your bmw's it had the n53 engine in which is the direct injection 1. Is there any big problems with injectors etc on these?

Yes there is, its well known for issues with the injectors and the high pressure fuel pump.

So keep the warranty up and its not your problem.
