major hard drive failure?

yes i got to that screen and it stayed like that for a while maybe i will just let it do its thing like u say and check back in a while if im still awake lol thanks

This looks like something we get at work a lot. The source of the problem is usually a weirdly named file usually with a red cross icon somewhere in documents and settings\all users. It makes you think your hard drive is failing by hiding all the files on your c: drive progressively. We usually fix it by using another pc on the network to connect to the c$ share on the affected pc, deleting the suspect file then use the rkill and unhide utilities from bleepingcomputer to unhide the files.

The (windows is loading files) screen has been this way for two and a half hours now is this normall I no you say be patient but shall I just stop now and try the other lads method using paragon backup and a stick?

Inappropriate slightly but the first image made me chuckle..

"RAM memory reliability is extremely low.."

For starters RAM means Random Access Memory, so a message saying "Random Access Memory memory reliability.." is nonsense and would never be an official Microsoft error.

Secondly unless the RAM is ECC, which typically you only tend to find in servers, there is no error correction or "reliability" - if it fails Windows will just fail in various ways (file corruption, downloads failing CRC checks, bluescreens, etc), but it won't be recognised as memory faults outside of specific memory test apps that it is the cause

Regards the state of your machine - personally I wouldn't even waste my time trying to clean it, if I could get my important files off I would reformat and reinstall. :(

ps. Googled the error and this page was the first one that came up.

Could help (the bit about activating the malware app to make it stop screwing with stuff) might get you a bit further in recovering files, but as said above I would reinstall. I'm quite OCD about that sort of stuff though.

Cheers lads I'm not worried about any data or saving anything on the comp I just want to as you say format and reinstall what is the best way to do this is it the above mentioned of paragon like I say I'm not worried about saving any data

What discs do you have for the laptop? It looks like you already have a recovery partition installed by the manufacturer when it was originally supplied. I don't know enough about HP laptops to be honest to say how you get to it, didn't someone earlier suggest holding down F11 when booting?

Yes they did and I've done this but I've had the (windows is loading files) for three hours now so I'm guessing that's not working and also it's a desktop not a laptop not sure if that makes any difference though

I am currently installing paragon to a stick drive is this the right way to go about it do you think i need to do any thing to make the drive bootable?

just an up date last night i managed to restore from a previous time (4days ago) when rebooted everything had gone back to normal like there was never a problem, this morning i installed avg anti virus and also malwarebytes ran both one after the other malwarebytes found four errors and deleted them and avg's scan came up with nothing also did a root kit scan through avg and that showed nothing, so do you think that could be it or is it worth a complete re install just to be sure?

Even funnier is the bit about hard disk rotation speed exceeding limits. :p
