People who make you lol on public transport

If it is not full, then you yourself could easily go and stand in the aisle...

If there's a single person standing blocking the doors, then yes, they're a complete and utter moron... if there's plenty of people on board and you just want to get on then you should go stand in the aisle. You're inconveniencing the people who have got on the train with plenty of time to spare and who have chosen a comfortable place to stand. Why should they have to lose their spot because you are later than them? If you're saying you can't get past them to stand in the aisle yourself... then the train is too busy and you shouldn't be cramming on it.

Having a slow day are we?

Clearly you're not understanding - people were not filtering down the aisle so people COULDN'T get onto the train because they were crowding round the door.

It's common sense to fill in the space that's available in the train, and not crowd round the door - if you were blocking my path onto the train, if the aisle were free, I'd either push past you or pull you off the train to get on.

MOST people, however, would either step off the train to let people on and off who do want to go to the aisle. MOST people, would sensible, step off the train to let people off the train. The point that was made was that clearly people weren't doing that, facilitating the entry/exit of the wagon, and that there was clearly enough space - and we're not all bruisers like me that can make most men cower by a simple look. ;)

It's arrogant people like you that make public transport so irritating - people that don't engage their brain.

No they are not. They're standing there because it's more comfortable there than in the aisles. People pushing to get on the train and moaning that people won't move down are only doing so because they themselves don't want to stand in the aisle. As i've said, I have seen it many a time that people will move aside as much as they can to let people on only for these late-comers to moan once they realise they're going to be the one's standing in the aisle.

Well then don't moan if I barge past you because you're being an arrogant self righteous self centered cretin because you won't move out of my way on an uncrowded train. :p

Love your logic - fantastic.

Fine, if you step off the train to let people on, we don't have a problem, but the point, again, that was being made was that no one was able to get onto the train because the morons were all round the doors rather than filtering down the aisles. It's called common decency and most human beings usually follow it. Though it's good to see some selfish people in this world, makes the rest of us realise how kind and generous we are ;)

I think everyone is misunderstanding each other here. I'm saying that I have no problem making way for people to board the train (stepping off or otherwise), but people that expect the people already on the train to move down are the one's in the wrong. People moan that they cannot get on but yet still moan if they are let through to the aisle. The only way to appease them is to give up your own space that you got there early enough to secure and go and try to balance your entire journey home rolling about in the aisle - why should I have to do that just because you are rushing for a train when you should be getting on the next one. You might even get a seat if you wait the massive 15 mins for the next one!

Another mad one is the people that sprint for the train, bashing people out of the way when the next train is pulling into another platform 2 minutes later... how about get home a few minutes later and not stress out?! Weirdos.

But if all us "door-standers" have moved aside to allow you a gap to get on... what's the problem? Funnily enough I bet you'd still have a good whinge about how you now get the aisle.

Why would you barge past anyone? Do you struggle to assert yourself vocally? Or is this the caveman approach to ensuring you get home in time for Coronation St? lol - "barge past me because I won't move out of YOUR way"... what an attitude!

Because most people get the train they need to get to their destination on time? Why should you wait for the next train and be late? How do you know that the earlier train isn't the one that's being talked about?

Securing a space?! What? Are you at school?! :p

If YOU let people on, then fine I have no issues with that... surely however, rather than 20 or so people leaving the train to make room for the 20 other people wanting to get on and down the aisles, wouldn't it just be easier to slide down the aisle? Crowding round the door is ridiculous and selfish.

Looks like we'll just have to agree to disagree and hope we don't ever commute on the same line ;)

Saw one guy asleep on the tube who was megadribbling

It was dripping down his mouth all over his tshirt, which was literally soaked with druel

We found it funny and took pictures, which everybody else also then found hilarious.

For me, it's purely the fact that standing in the aisle is god-awful uncomfortable and i'd rather not spend my travelling time with my crotch in someone's face trying not to fall over - so i'm moreso inclined to more aside and stay in my place.

Hmmm - think i'll keep my eyes peeled tonight just incase!

No, I do it because people just don't bother doing anything when asked - they look at you with incredulity, as if I'm asking them to sacrifice their daughters to the lions. I can assert myself perfectly well ;) However, it's a means to an end - last chance card if you will.

IF all door standers were to move, then I have no issue at all. It's the propensity of door standers to just do **** all that annoys me. Standing there scratching their rears, music blaring and just ignoring the world around them, at the off chance that a fellow resident of this world dare ask them to make a little room for their compatriot.

Again, if I happen to be by the door, I will usually tend to move down the aisle if I am in the way, if I'm not, I will step on/off the train to let people on and off. I'm not bothered about sitting, but if there's a seat available then of course if no one else wants it I'll grab it. If I'm down the aisle because I've been a considerate human being, and need to get off, I do make my intentions well heard, and start preparing my exodus before the arrival at the stop, much to the protestation of those around me. Once again, door standers that get off to facilitate my freedom are greeted with a cracking smile and thanks, those that don't bother often get off the train by way of being stuck in front of me. :)

This is why I drive and don't commute by pubic (sic) transport! I'd get into far too many scraps otherwise! :D

PS Apologies for my mood - I'm tired and stressed and didn't mean to pick you out! Thanks for taking it so well! :)

I had some guy with his mates try to sneak up and do something whilst I was asleep once... fortunately I woke up just as he was leaning over and so jumped up and put him back in his seat. In hindsight it was a good thing his mates found it amusing as I was wasted and would have gone to ground with the flick of a finger! :(

Why is standing in the aisles so uncomfortable? I'd much rather stand in the aisle, out of the way than crowd around the door having to move whenever the train gets to a station.
I understand why people don't move down the aisle, it is because they are selfish inconsiderate fools.

You can lean against the glass / dividers, whereas in the aisle you have to stand upright your entire journey, constantly shifting your balance = less comfortable. Also, I get extremely hot on a busy train and so the opening of the doors is absolute bliss! Also in the aisles one has to stand either with your arse or your crotch in someone's face.

In bristol we have a 'legend' in that respect, those from Bristol may know him;

Description;

- A black fella maybe around 30-35
- Wears VERY odd costumes at random times of the day
- ALWAYS has roller blades on his feet
- Is usually found on the A38, just past the M5 junction which heads into Almondsbury/Alveston areas on the path, either side of the road

He has been there for years, would be funny if someone else from this board has seen him before, it's all very bizarre :)

Yes, my friends call him 'the A38 dancer' but I've never actually seen him dance.

Im the strange one on a bus if i get on i dislike people who sit stone faced ect so i smile and pull faces ect it annoys the wife if we are on a bus

I get infuriated by the fools who try pushing on at a busy stop before people have even gotten off.

I like being the first person to get off and just stand right in front of the fool trying to barge on and just glare at him till they realise what a douch they are being with the occasional torrent of abuse depending on what other annoying people I've had to share the journey with.

But fortunately we don't get the same line anyway :p

Didn't realise that my comment would wind someone up so badly!
