I like it, paid £25 for the Ltd Eiditon so don't feel ripped off and find it more entertaining than MW3, just like the aspect you can do what you want and play all sorts of roles in a game.

I've got 100 + hours logged on BF3 vs about 25 on MW3. I do enjoy both, but find myself with more to do on BF3 which keeps bringing me back. This sums it up quite nicely i think :

haha, so true I am an awful pilot, I have just over 6 hours and always in top 3 in every game

the sounds and atmosphere are amazing, hiding in a house while its blown to bits

A mate and I were confronted with a guy camping in the Veteran's retreat on Gulf of Oman, armed with an USAS-12. He was basically crouched in a corner waiting for people to run past, before shredding them with the frag rounds. So he gets me, and as my mates the team leader, I respawn on him using the support kit with C4. I stick a few blocks to the wall of this building this guy's hiding in, and blow the wall out. My mate then empties his FAMAS into him. :p

I've just managed to unlock the M224 mortar as well, which I love using. Now I'll admit, I'm a godawful sniper, and always seem to lose out against other snipers as I think the unlock system makes this the most hostile class to new players. As I've said earlier, you go up against a sniper whose unlocked the 12 power scope, a bipod and the straight pull bolt, you stand no chance. But, with the mortar I now have the means to hit back at the snipe-whores. The only interest I have in the recon kit is to unlock the SOFLAM, after that I'm done with it. I have no interest in becoming one of the sniper's I so despise.

my gamer tag is fr0dders. My friends list is getting thin of BF3 players as people get bored with it.

If you want to level up as a sniper then don't play as a 'sniper'. Sounds silly but you get **** all points sat on top of a mountain killing the odd guy. Instead just play it as a normal class with the odd actual sniping and you'll level up in the no time.

Think it's either the bi-pod or straight pull bolt, don't think you can fit both at the same time?

Read something funny today about how to get a mortar guy who is annoying you using the MAV.

Fly the MAV over to him and hover it just above the mortar so they hit the MAV above the players head. Not tried if myself but apparently it counts as a suicide on that player as the explosion takes them out.

Apologies if it's old news :p

And as said above, if you're struggling levelling up as Recon just start equipping shotguns/non rifles and run around as you would another class.
 
Yeah, I've been using the UMP-45 and the PP-19 to inch closer and closer to the SOFLAM. I'll occasionally have a crack with either the SV-98 or the M-39 EMR when there's a particularly troublesome sniper nestled over a flag or M-Com, or is generally causing us high casualties. Although I probably do it just to confirm to myself how crap I am really. However, I'm not that bad with the M-39 now that I've unlocked the ACOG scope for it.

SV98+7xScope is the most useful for me.

The 12x scope is okay, but you tend to have to compensate for bullet drop a lot to make it useful. At close range, it's too zoomed in, and I end up wishing I had a wider view.

Lower zooms leave me missing targets (at least with critical hits), so they are also out. Saying that, if you wanna go running in there, these are more practical.

The night vision scope is USELESS! 1x zoom, plus is doesn't spot people from very far. In fact, my own eyes are damn well better at spotting people at that range than this heap of *****!

SV98+Straight Pull Bolt+7x Scope seem to be more alll purpose for me.

Just waiting on one knife takedown for the L96? Anyone use it, what you think compared to the SV98?
 
I was having loads of issues trying to get on last night, both quickmatch and server browser wouldnt let me in any EU server, after lots of messing around i got into some US ones, but the ping is higher.

I eventually got in to some EU games by an invite but i cant relly upon someone being online all the time :mad:

I did have some funky rounds with the Usas tho :cool:
 
Noob question:

Is it pointless trying to single handedly take down enemy aircraft with a Stinger? If they've unlocked the flare countermeasures my missiles are fooled 100% of the time and of course by the time I've reloaded their flares have also. I assume you need two people firing at the aircraft to kill it?

Stingers are pretty useless now, but if you track the plane/helo and wait, then fire after it flares it should hit, but the damage is very little and almost pointless.
 
Sometimes just holding a Stringer up, getting a lock is enough to scare them away. I've even forced a fair few to crash trying to get away from my lock when I had no missiles left to fire :)

Single player with a Stinger can be pretty useless if they have flares. Two stingers should take down most things.

Could always wait for someone else too shoot first.
