I would not for one minute be even thinking about the sound at Idle, I have not heard a noisy GFX card for Years !

Sound levels at 3D load is the only thing worth talking about, surely ?
 
Sorry to derail the thread a little, but the OCUK 7970s have been dispatched today am i right? so they will be with us monday ?

AMD actually said something along the lines of dropping the prices at launch. It was due to the huge difference OEMs were pricing their cards at.

They wanted it more uniform IIRC. I mean, MSI are charging an arm and a leg for what is the most barren stock card when it comes to sticker.

I mean sheesh, at least with my XFX I got a large brushed alu sticker. Even if they did gyp me on the mini DP to HDMI adapter :D

I can't remember the last person I banned in all honesty, not sure even if I have banned anyone in the last 12 months, apart from bots that is. :)

I am reasonable sometimes you see. ;)
 
Nice to see that black edition priced where it should be. It was clearly just something XFX had rushed out to claim the first overclocked card in the 7970 range, by simply slapping on a fairly unimaginative cooler and giving an overclock that any reference card/cooler could handle.

Lot of bitching about OCUK prices, just vote with your wallets peoples, I put my money here if I can, if a competitor is notably cheaper I'll go there. Ofcourse no one is liking the 7970 prices in general :D

All I saw was the reasonable response of "without stock and pre-order you can advertise anything you like" and "Actually that place is more expensive anyway like for like".

Oh god I missed that, I thought it was a mistake in the image posted.. and the other DD BE is still a silly price! At least Asus beef up the PCB components and power faze etc

So you are paying £85 extra for a cooler and a mild overclock or £25 for just the mild overclock...

They also (and rather randomly) do a DD "core" edition (stock clocks).

I don't think Overclockers sell it, Just checked; they don't, but it does exist.

The site that has it charges a £50 premium for the DD Black edition. If you want the DD cooler I would just get the core model and save the £50. Both cards will probably clock to similar levels anyway.
