*****Official Star Wars: The Old Republic Thread*****

Would anyone recommend the game, heard a lot of good things about it but was just wondering what everyone thinks :)

Yup I would the game has quite a few faults, but never the less its a still a very good game, with a great story lines.

I get tired of hearing this, it's just not true. I think the people whining are the ones who's played it the most, and are starting to see past the shiny exterior and realise there's not a whole not of mmo behind the single player experience.

He's right when he says you should take everyone's comments with a pinch of salt. Just include his too ;)

mmm don't agree, its only about 4/5 people who say the same things day in and day out then others who do the same in a different way thinking they sound superior, this game may have plenty of issues still but its a really good game.

Just cancelled my sub :(
They've got 20 days left to convince me it's worth my money I suppose.

So disappointed in how it's turned out, what a waste of money, both mine and theirs.

Bioware really do suck with there maintenance, ive never known so many delays, patches that makes issues worse, and they dont give a toss that 12 on Saturday is prime time gaming for most of us.

They dont even give you an advanced update on patch notes either?

And one thing that really makes me mad is them disabling forum posting, really is sad.

They are doing so many simple things wrong in there early days as an MMORPG company, especially when you consider there is a £8.99 sub involved

Pathetic

Was all this rubbish that made me quit, they don't give a toss about any of their players, even less so the Europeans.

yeh, i for one would like to see some sort of better way to communicate updates, rather than actively having to go and search for them myself, would be a lot less disappointed about waking up earlier to play the game on the weekend !

I've played 2 beta weekends and been playing nearly every day since early access. My posts generally are not pushing my negative opinion on others.

Raids, grouping, pvp, questing and group questing, GTN, crafting and much more. Yet you claim there isn't much of a MMO. Most of what i have listed is what makes an MMO. Granted there is too much instancing, but aside from that i'd say its a very solid MMO.

I've been playing since August (beta) - I've put over 400 hours in and still loving every minute of it!

AWESOME :)

This tbh.

Great game (from a levelling perspective) but can't justify the monthly fee with the utter farce it's been so far.

Saturday afternoon downtime is epically stupid but i'll reserve judgement until i see patch notes. It may be some big exploit being fixed or something actually useful like a common crash issue or performance problem.

The clowns can't even get their thread name correct either, the forum thread says Jan 31st Maintainance

Anyhoo, i've said before they can't do downtimes at separate times for US and EU without a full redesign of the launcher so it knows what server your using or redesign the patching system so it keeps a backup of the previous version to allow unpatched servers to still be used until they are patched.

No, but you jump on anyone who dares to express a negative opinion. He asked what people think, and I told him. I also pointed out that you're probably not the most unbiased person in the thread. Thank you for proving my point.

I've just cancelled my subscription to make a point. It's very hard to justify paying £8.99 when I can't play during the day because im not a 9-5 type worker. There's another 8hr bad-boy on Tuesday too 8am-4pm :( . I like how the "Emergency maintenance" is nicely timed for the US player base to wake up to a shiny patched game. Ridiculous customer service. I've got 23 days left, hopefully they can address the issue otherwise it's au revoir.

Whatever the reason is, this is unnaceptable imo.

Ive cancelled too also just to tell them the reasons, i will carry on playing though and reconsider before my sub expires.

Yup its a great game, the whiners will always whine, don't see why a) they bother to play b) they don't keep all there whining on the swtor forums, doing it here accomplishes nothing!

I'm not entirely sure what peoples problems are with this game, I had no intention of playing it but have been roped into it by mates, I'm having a blast but perhaps it's simply because I didn't fancy playing SWG and had no preconceived ideas of how SWTOR was going to play.

I've been pleasantly surprised, the game has a lot of potential but I've a feeling those who rushed to 50, as with all MMOs are now twiddling their thumbs and becoming bored.

Amuses me no end why people quit a game then continue to populate forums just to bitch about how poor the game is.. move on folks.

The patching doesn't bother me in the slightest, it has to happen and the most cost effective and efficient method of doing it is simply to blitz it at once. If the EU and US were patches separately we'd have US players swarming EU servers when their servers were down anyway.

chances are it's all on VM farms anyway, so downing them all at the same time is a doddle and gets it over with faster than splitting it into two sets.

It'll never be convenient for everyone, don't like it go elsewhere - little point getting upset about it.

This is the first of the issues with TOR that has really annoyed me so far. I don't give a monkey's about high-res textures (my rig prob'ly wouldn't handle them anyway), I can put up with my toon suddenly turning green for no reason or my companion deciding to lay down and play dead the moment I stop moving - I've read with amusement the amount of nerdrage that has been aimed at BioWare over these and other issues.

However, this is the point at which I draw the line - as someone who works for a living all week, I expect to be able to play the bloody game I pay a subscription for over the weekend. Don't get me wrong, it's good that BioWare are fixing the issues, but why alienate your paying customers by taking the sodding game down at a time when they're able to put the most time into playing it? The timing is, as with most things, to suit the bloody Yanks - would it really hurt to treat the EU servers as a separate entity and enable us to be patched while we're asleep?

The tragic thing is at this rate I can see TOR going down as the biggest, most expensive 'dropped clanger' in gaming history - BioWare, especially their customer relations department (assuming they actually have one), are clearly out of their depth. Doubly tragic for me personally in that I can honestly say I've had more fun playing TOR for the last month than I have for the last six months playing WoW - playing WoW for an hour or so this morning only served to hammer that point home.

Apologies for the rant :p
