Same in Chester - Game and Gamestation are opposite each other. Though, to be fair, the staff in both are very much into their games and I have had many a chat either when looking for stuff, pre-ordering or buying. The whole 'Can I help you there, sir?' as soon as you walk in is annoying, but that's just sales patter, you get that kind of **** in a lot of places.

every shop i've worked in demands you do it i'm afraid. you get told to just pounce on people when they enter and a kick up the arse if you don't.

A mate of mine worked part-time in GAME at Redditch while back. He hated it.
Apparently they count the nr of people who enter the store using lasers, every shift has to sell something to 75% of the people who enter or everyone on that shift loses their bonus, which was a nightmare on the 1pm+ shift as you had a billion kids coming out of school entering and exiting for an hour after 3:30 =/

games "sale" instore and on the website was pointless. Almost every popular game they had reduced was out of stock - as soon as it went back up in price they suddenly had it back in stock again.

What did they suddently get the popular games bought in cheap they could only buy a few.

ie MW3 and SR3 they were £39.99-44.99

in the sale MW3/SR3 went to £29.99, 4 game shops i went to had loads of display boxes that it was £29.99 but all were out of stock, asking when they will have them back in.

"We dont know, we dont control store deliveries, we just get what they sent us, when they send it"

The day they go back up in price ohh in stock.

EVERY store does that- all stores have trackers above the doors that count footfall, and they count a "conversion" rate as to how many sales you make compared to how many people you had coming in. pretty bad in practice as our cleaner stands in the doorway for 5 minutes hoovering and probably counts as 100 people. this isn't just GAME that does that :P

Maybe they could consider a retail park presence as a concession within a major UK electronics retailer who do nothing positive for games retail anyway?

They do this by me, think its Comet there in (Or Currys, I get them confused) they have effectivly outsourced their gaming section to Game, whether its any good or not I've no idea I've never been in as Im sure the prices will still be high!

Gamestation used to do the same in a local blockbuster, but then blockbuster decided they wanted a slice of the pie and kicked them out of bed, Gamestation then went and opened a new store about 5 doors away :D

If a member of staff annoys you next time leave the shop, reenter, leave, repeat 100 times until he realises what your up to and chases you away with his overpriced games :D!

I just had an email which suggests they are in a very bad position...both GS and Game. That said, I can't see anything happening in the near future...Abandon ship while you still can!

No not every store, Oxford doesnt for example (i used to work there) in fact any shop i used to work in never did. Its a ridiculous way of measuring, most shops run there progress on total weekly profits/like for like sales etc.

CPW introduced such counters when Iw orked there.

Awful contraptions.

install "invisible hand" and go to the rainforest and search the game out, it should automatically tell you at the top of the page who is the cheapest online retailer.

cannot believe people still don't use invisible hand, it works automatically in the background saving you money.

it also works on everything, for example car head units, tv's, etc.

I'd like to know aswell seeing as I've got an instore preorder with them for the Vita don't wanna lose £30.

Got some Game vouchers to spend and have been trying to get Forza 4 but both Aylesbury and Milton Keynes have been out of stock for a couple of weeks! Seems most of their top 10 are out of stock too....problems purchasing new stock? :(

They are not purchasing stock untill they know their next years budgets as their financial year ends shortly.

Jcb33.

PCW had them back when I worked there in the 90s.

When retailers start using the "People come here for the service line" and put the prices up you know the company is screwed...

Our local town centre has a Game and Gamestation within 100 yards of each other.

They're just pricing their selfs out of the market. I went into GAME the other day to have a browse and I noticed that they had a PS3 controller priced up at £50. I mean, £50 for 1 blooming controller?! I'm not surprised they're going under.
