• Competitor rules

Please remember that any mention of competitors, hinting at competitors or offering to provide details of competitors will result in an account suspension. The full rules can be found under the 'Terms and Rules' link in the bottom right corner of your screen. Just don't mention competitors in any way, shape or form and you'll be OK.

What does everyone think of current gpu prices

Not worth the outlay as I 'only' game at 1200p.

It certainly makes a difference.

As much as I like my 1440 monitor, I do sometimes miss the performance I had at 1200 and that I could force on more settings.

I have silly hope that Nvidia's mid/high'ish cards are going to out perform the 7970 and cost far less.

Then again, silly hopes are silly :p

Will not happen. Sadly unless Nvidia\Amd come to their senses Pc gaming is doomed to fail, for several reasons, all well documented on here. The only advantage for Pc gaming is that it is a richer gaming experience over the consoles and of course much better graphics but that will change, I suspect, with the next gen consoles. Then there will be no need for Pc gaming, only the rich will be able to afford 'the latest' graphics card and with a dwindling market there will be no games for Pcs, just consoles. :(

If the next gen consoles end up being ten times more powerful than they are now as has been hinted apart from triple screens why game on pc anymore. How many pc only titles are there left ? I think these current prices have or will soon kill off pc gaming. What if next gen consoles have support for keyboard and mouse or more kenetic type hands free control. Ten times more than an xbox 360 or ps3 at 1080p, who would be tempted ?

That sadly seems to be the case. The companies need to realise the economy doesn't support such expensive products.

And with the next gen console like sounding like they're going to pack some decent DX11 hardware, one can only imagine how well those games will look and run.

I seriously hope the pc doesn't end up as a MMO and RTS only platform, it can do so much as we all know; but prices are not helping at the moment.

I'm sure the ps3 can already take a USB mouse and keyboard, or so I thought.

If indeed the next Xbox and PS support those controls for games, well pc gaming really will be taking a massive bullet to the face. Despite what Nvidia might think with their slide showing pc gaming on the increase.

They simply can't increase the pc gaming market by further cutting out people with high prices.

Sure pc gaming in still increasing a bit, thanks to Indi development, but how many of those need a high end GPU to run well with?

Lol, rules are rules, we all need to abide by them, so stfu perhaps?
As an analegy, should the Police arrest everyone who drives at 71mph on the motorway, or should they use common sense and penalise the idiots who deliberately speed excessively? As far as I can see, no direct competitors of OcUK have been promoted within this thread. You could argue that Kwik-Fit are a competitor because I need to choose between buying a new set of winter tyres or a 7970.

Maybe get a new attitude, kid.

Maybe get a skin job on your pipe/slipper/Werthers combo?

Quoting the names or contact details of competitors

These are OcUK forum rules, and even naming a place.. Pah, I give up

Please do.

You having a bad day?

You sound way too angry about a fellow member mentioning a shop that on all accounts is a bit of a joke around here anyway, and for obvious reasons. Why not look out for your fellow member instead of out him so hard for it. It was almost like you wanted him to get banned or for a mod to see it. That's not in the spirit of this forum, well, not for decent people.

Chill out, it's a better experience than running around wanting to smash everything when someone doesn't have the same view as you.

Now where's my pipe? My memory isn't what is used to be...

I've been thinking long and hard about a 7950 and I've come to the conclusion they're overpriced so have decided to hold off until they're £250 or less. My 460 GTX is still providing sterling service as I only game at 1680x1050. I may get an SSD though in the next few weeks.

7950 at £250 is going to be a long wait with launch prices of £350 - 400 for the 3gig model, and gibbo saying 7970 not looking to drop under £400 any time soon. Come on invidia bring out something like a 660ti for around £200 with 580 performance. That would go some way to keeping pc gaming alive.

PC World, Curries, Comet and such like aren't competitors unless they sell similar things to OcUK's main business. I haven't seen any of them offer overclocked bundles, a reasonable range of new components etc.

The closes thing i saw was at Best buy which was a GTX 460 for £250!!!
