What headset should I get?

After being disappointed with my EarForce Z6A's from Turtlebeach (due to cracks in the plastic) I am looking for a new headset.

I am looking for one primarily for listening to bass heavy music (such as Dubstep) but I would also like to have surround sound for games like COD although this isn't necessary. My budget is around £100. What would you guys recommend?

I agree with sHo0sH's suggestion. Definitely worth the extra money.

If you absolutely must stick to £100 and no more, then Denon AH-D1100 are decent and fairly bassy for about £70. Not as much as the Beyer's though.

Jonathan, are you using onboard audio, or a sound card?

Onboard audio is rather poor at driving headphones properly. My Goldring's sound rubbish when I use them with my onboard audio, and they are easy to drive. The Beyer's are a bit more demanding. I'd expect them to sound a bit flat and lifeless with onboard audio.

Even a Xonar DG, should improve things considerably.

I think the idea is supposed to be that the 80Ohm version is easier to drive with consumer devices. In other words, devices that do not have a dedicated headphone amp.

The 250Ohm version would appear to be aimed at people who would use a headphone amp.

It's not quite as straight forward as that though, as some higher impedance headphones, don't necessarily need a headphone amp, and some lower impedance headphones do.

Some people have said that there isn't a lot of difference between using a headphone amp with the 250Ohm version, and not using one. Some people have said that both versions really need an amp.

The other difference is the 80Ohm version has a straight cable, whereas the 250Ohm version has a coiled cable.

i have the 250ohms and boy oh boy are they good just hooked up to asus dg 5.1 with built in amp gonna upgrade card soon but they still amazing

You can pick up a pair of Audio-Technica ATH-AD700 for £85 new on an auction website. They are shipped from Oz though. One of the best gaming headphones out there.

Would the DT770 Pros be good for gaming with?

I currently have a set of Edifier R1600Ts, running off my Asus Xonar DX soundcard.

Any advice greatly appreciated!

Rather than a clip on mic I can whole heartedly recommend a ModMic. I'm going to post my overall opinion of it in a couple of days in my attempt at a review with more pictures, but have a look at this. Personal taste in headphones aside, I think most would agree that's a fairly impressive "headset"

I would just like to backup cutshaw, i have modmic as well (attached to my Denon D2000) and have used it pretty everyday since xmas. It's amazing, really it is, and of course well worth the money. I got mine shipped from the US inside 10 days. The guy emailed me directly to confirm order and to enquire receipt of delivery.

How does the small part actually attach to the headphones? Is it some kind of sticky pad?
