Fred the Shred != Sir

Honouring bankers, it's a joke. Knight a worthy person like a charity worker. No one deserves a million pound bonus unless it's your company and it's doing well. You do not reward failure.

And that goes for all the thieving ministers and jailbird councillors too.

The only mistake the government made is not linking his bonus to returning the bank to private hands at a modist profit for the treasury. If he's performing he deserves a market rate bonus.

The set him various targets, some of these he met and as such they were liable to pay him - therefore they paid him. And then everyone went bonkers that they were paying him for hitting certain targets that he'd hit... so he gave it up. He's hardly in the wrong.

If somebody had contractually gave me a million pound bonus I'd have kept it and told the press to shove it.

It's not the root problem with society.

but its ok for the government to tear up the contracts of millions of public sector workers, my contract clearly states a retirement age of 60 but I can't tell them to shove it can I, well actually I will by going on strike. They just press on regardless. But when it comes to state owned banks and a million pound bonus the government say its a contractual, talk about double standards.

Its all to do with party donations from rich bankers to heartless tories

what is it about the left that makes such thoroughly unpleasant people?

what is it about the right that makes them love money at the expense of maintaining an unfair distribution of wealth and every time we have a tory government we have a class war. I call you lot thoroughly unpleasant people

What kind of quality journalism is the OP reading where they call him this?

Stockhausen wouldn't know quality journalism if it rolled itself up and hit him over the head (as much as we all wish it would, repeatedly).

This is a nasty 'politics of envy' tactic.

Fred Goodwin was awarded a Knighthood for services to banking - you can read that as making a shedload of money in tax for the UK Government when the going was good.

When the going was bad - and I accept he and his board made some bad decisions - then they lost millions and they lost their jobs as a result.

However, none of what they did was Criminal. Sure bad business decisions but not Criminal.

It used to be that you were stripped of any honours or awards if you committed a Criminal Act.

When will Parliament strip those found guilty of expense fraud of their titles, honours and peerages or is that a bit too close to home for our 'Honourable' Members of Parliament?

You're confusing breach of contract with variation of contract in employment law.

I know you're clever enough to know the difference, so this must be an attempt to be deliberately deceptive.

We have a class war when the money isn't being hosed at the proles because of the violent left unwilling to acknowledge democracy and setting out to disrupt the lives of others.

Going by your logic, we should be calling for the execution of trade unionists...

What is it about the right that drives people to make stupid comments such as this? There are horrid people on the left, disgusting people on the right. Being of a particular political persuasion doesn't determine the quality of one's character. :o

Thanks for once again letting us know you are poor and bitter Stockhausen. You should probably go and make some more rag soup. /sarc

Generally, whenever I see someone on this forum advocating violence and/or death for people who they disagree with or are jealous of, it's from a small group of left wing posters. (see also threads on Thatcher).

Yes, but being of a particular financial persuasion gives you license to berate and mock those less wealthy than you for being "lazy" and "stupid". For example;

Using loaded terms like "proles" and "violent left" is fair game when you sit upon a high horse made from the largest denomination of banknote in circulation.
