GTX 260 Power Question

Morning all,

I'm building my PC today and when I've come to install the GPU it requires two 6 pin power connections. Now one comes with my CPU and I've got an adaptor for the other. However, on the adaptor the lower middle pin is missing and the top middle of is square rather than rounded.

Have I bought the wrong adaptor? Is the missing pin required or will it still power it if I just round the pin off?

It looks like it's one of three GND connections that's gone. As such, it shouldn't be a problem to connect it... Assuming the graphics card designers and manufacturers weren't lazy and actually did fuse all the GND connections together, in which case you'll have a floating ground. But given that there is also a second connector i'd expect it to be fine.

Yes it's a black wire. However, it does have 6 cables going into it, just two black cables going into the top middle pin (top as in my picture)

Looking at my picture the securing clip is at the top.
 
So a 12V? hmmm, try it.

Theres three wires probably because the gauge of each wire is only rated for a certain current.
 
Seems to be ok. Another quick question. A heat sync has fell off my you, not the main one, a small one. Whats best to use to stick it back on?

Sorry this sounds a bit off. I meant, the only way you'd have a floating ground is if that middle pin ends up being the only one actually connected to the circuit ground on the board. Which I think is unlikely, unless they were very lazy, so it should be fine.
