OK, So I have had no work since 24/12/11 because of my contract. I have put feelers out but since I am deemed 'inexperienced' no one will take me on with a truck.

So, back to where I began, I signed on the dole (first time ever I might add) and since then I have non stop been seeking employment. I now have an interview at Aldi for a supermarket worker, back in retail for me.

I have applied for no less than 14 jobs this past WEEK, and I am still throwing CV's around and filling applications out. I really don't like not being in work.

So, those that thing the guys on JSA are dirty dole dosers, most are, but not me, I am up and doing something about it, I don't like being a JSA Junky....

Throwing CVs around willy nilly without a care in the world! Tut tut! Look up the company, find the relevant person to look at your CV, call them up and ask for an email address minimum. Get some correspondance between you and the company and let it go from there IMO.

I have been handing the CV's to the store manager in person.

I have a group interview tomorrow, bit weary as I aint the foggiest what one of them is...

Unfortunately unless you only do a few hours a week you forfeit JSA... Stupid system really but I also see why they do it.

How on earth does that work? If you are volunteering then you are not being paid so they can't take away JSA....

It's not just you Jaffa, it is always a bit grim until Easter driving wise. On top of which there is a bit of a recession on.

I am coming up to 3 years experience C+E now and if my contract came to an end it would be a struggle to find a regular 5 days a week.

Some agencies will give you a chance though, I had just 8 months experience when I started my current contract.

Edit: Whereabouts in our sceptred isle are you?

I was just going to provide you with a link to the direct.gov.uk site however it now says you can volunteer full time and still get JSA. It certainly WASN'T like that previously as I looked into this before a year or two ago. Glad to see it has been changed so people can actually do useful stuff with their spare time now!

(Can anyone else confirm that it used to be the case you could only volunteer for a few hours a week max?)

14 jobs past week? I am currently seeking employment and have applied to about 20 jobs within the last couple of hours...

Just... How?

Even bog standard supermarket applications take ages with all the form filling, let alone more specific jobs where you need to tailor your covering letter and CV. If you are just spamming your generic CV to every company in the area then it's slightly different, still good luck with that, it rarely actually works!;)

I am in a little place called Crewe, I am going back to retail, try and find many retail jobs. I have applied to 14 job vacancies but filled in more application forms and handed out even more CV's

Exactly he must be talking rubbish, applying for 20 jobs in a few hours is impossible.
