Gibbo are the 7950's actually selling?

I can currently buy a 7950 @ 334.98 They are still not selling

Sub 300 7950's will be common place within 4 weeks mark my words.

i said the same thing when the 7970 came out

if they were around or just under £350 id have 2 in my system right now

Same here, i was lookig forward to the launch. But the price coupled with the fact theres bugger all coming that im looking forward to makes it a total no go. Just playing tf2 on eyefinity on a single 6970 and having fun :)

Not posted in a while but i have to say, If i thought the 7970 or 7950 was value for money I would have bought one, But as they are not, and are priced very high ( in my opinion ) i will be waiting for the nvidia equivalent. So amd lose a potential convert.

I only have a 260gtx and desperately want a new system but i will not pay £347 for a gfx when i can purchase a new cpu 2500k, mobo , ram for £347 unless it was much , much faster than any other card which it isn't.

Also not many pc gamers would buy a 7950 for £350 if they already own a 6950 or 560ti or higher at those prices.

We should play a "guess how many times Easyrider mentions AMD looming price drops or lacklustre performance from AMD cards" game over the course of the month.
Nearest guess wins an ocuk mug or similar...

But does it matter? Would these people have bought one anyway, regardless of price? It's just like the 5850/70 to 6950/70 upgrade. A large amount of people just thought "why would I bother, it isn't worth it"

They left me tied to a lampost but naked in Shawlands with a traffic cone shoved over my head.

Banana man didn't attend thankfully!:p

Haha brilliant. Sounds like they had a good laugh at your expense. Then it will be their turn (buahahaha).

Pics or it didn't happen. In fact wait a minute... :D

I'm glad banana man didn't attend. Coneman was sufficient :p.

May be a card worth looking at when they hit £220 :D

If AMD sold these cards with a duel bios already loaded with a 7970 variant, either full shaders, full clocks, or both, they would sell very well. I am no fan of purposely crippling hardware to fit the card in a market segment.

"I can afford to sell you this hardware at this price or that price, but if you only pay this price I will break part of it."

The GTX580 costs exactly the same and has incredibly similar performance, so it was obvious they weren't going to shift at any real volume. They need to be sub-£300 to sell and closer to £250 to sell well, as that's when people will be looking to Crossfire setups. Nobody was expecting AMD to match the low price-point of the HD5xxx series but I am very surprised that they thought they'd be able to sell in volume at such a high price.
