Hi all,

Does anyone know if you can get a door lock insert for a multipoint (UPVC) door?

The only ones I can find are for mortice locks, as pictured below.

I can't change the lock before anyone suggests it. I am assuming that no such thing exists as it would need to be thin enough to slide past the cut out for the key.

Thanks!

Thanks Mark.

I cannot replace the lock. What I'm trying to do is prevent a key from being inserted into the lock from the outside. The door is a UPVC model with euro cylinder lock.

EDIT: The picture in the OP is the wrong one. What I was trying to find is a "keyhole blocker" as pictured below, but for a Euro cylinder lock.

Ahh right, I'm not sure actually, I have never come across anything like that.

If you have a key in the lock on the inside, this usually stops a key from being used from the outside. A bit of a ghetto solution but it should work.

You could use a stub spindle to stop the exterior handle from moving if thats any help.

I thought about leaving a key in the lock from the inside, but I'm going away for the weekend and there is a chance that someone could use the envelope slot to get the key.

Stub spindle is a possibility, thanks! I really don't want to modify the door if I can help it. Rented properties, you understand :(

You could just remove the spindle completely, if you have access through another door of course. Its only 2 screws and takes less than a minute.

It dont have to be "the" key just one that fits in the hole, a blank will be a couple of quid for a key cutters

I'd just pop the spindle out, 30sec job to take the handle off pull it out and reattach the handle.

What is the point, what are your trying achieve?

If it's about security then i wouldn't bother, your cylinder and be snapped and removed in 30s, your panel in your door can be cut with ease and glass broken.

So, if it is about security i'd be improving in other areas,

For reasons I don't wish to get into, I am going away for the weekend in March and don't want someone to use their key to get into my house.

Getting the key back from them isn't an option at the moment.

Why not just change the lock, i know you said its not an option but it's the only real way to do what you need.
By jamming the lock you will have to replace and lock jammers cost more than clyinders and are harder to find.

Euro cylinder £6.00
One screw and a slight turn of the key is all that is needed to remover, should take 1 minute and your problem is solved.

Re-install old cylinder when the time comes.

Why has no one picked up on this :(

Shame to you all!

Have you got 2 doors? Can you leave the key in one and use the back?
