50" Plasma in 330D E90

No, it's not irresponsible at all. Granted I accept the fact that the glass is notably thinner on plasma tv's and will be under more strain if transported horizontally rather than vertically, however I would be cautious when transporting any sort of glass that size.

In which case you wouldn't create the extra risk by transporting it flat.

Couldn't fit my 51" in without taking it off the stand. Even then it would be balancing on the ridge between the rear footwells and the rear would need severely stuffing with pillows etc to stop it shifting.

Ended up wrapping it in bubble wrap and putting it in the back of a LWB van with everything else in in the end.

Guess i'll see Friday. Being delivered to work unfortunately as no one is home during the week. In actual fact it might stay at work until the burglar bars are sorted and i might use my mates Transit next week. Thanks for the replies.

The only way it'd fit is upright in the back so this isn't an issue.

I got a 42" in my E39 with room to spare - upright in the rear footwells leaning slightly towards the seats.

Thats interesting. I have a 42" Toshiba that wouldn't for love nor money fit lenghtways across the seats IIRC. I had to take it out of the box and it did just about fit into the boot from back seat to lid.

Isn't an E60 wider?

Sorry for the off-topic - but I read this thread title as "can I install a 50" in my BMW". Like SUPER car video system or possibly windscreen replacement.

OK, I need some sleep.

Hope you enjoy the new TV when you get it :)

I transported a new Pioneer 50" Kuro all the way back from Bristol in an A4 Avant on it's flat 4 yrs ago without issue.

It will fit fine, why on earth would anyone want to keep the box if they are buying from somewhere within driving distance?
