Does this seem reasonable price? first one Ill have looked at.

Can't see the pic.

But, how many owners.

Are F1s in this price range yet?

I dreamt I had an awesome white 182 last night, which I took on a dyno which for some reason was about 10 feet off the ground, it fell of and pretty much fell to pieces. I then got it on with an awesome girl on the bus. So it all worked out in the end.

Just to report an excellent service at Diamond Motors. Mick was great, nice detailed report after a full service and recommended some things that might be worth doing over the next few months.

Well, it's very simple maths....

170bhp and 1090kg = 156bhp/tonne
200bhp and 1400kg = 143bhp/tonne

Various comments saying 160 etc though which is going to bring it to what 146bhp/tonne.

3bhp infront of a Type R?

According to a quick search the Weight of the FN2 is 1,267Kg giving it 157bhp.

Meaning if were using bhp/tonne figures to determine how much faster one vehicle is to another the Type R should be quicker.

But it doesn't and it keeps up quite well, from experience. I can't believe that stock 182s only reach 160~ unless there is something wrong with them.

I trust that these things totally drink petrol? Haven't really considered a hot hatch, assumed the insurance would be too high; but it's similar money to MX5 quotes.

I've never stated they only make 160bhp standard - I believe the figure is closer to around 170bhp and have said so repeatedly throughout this thread :P

Of course there is more to straight line acceleration than power to weight, too.

Not really, you can get 40mpg on a motorway trip.

Interesting. May just have to go and test drive one.

It's so hard trying to decide what I want! Something fun, that won't rape me on insurance (MX5/Clio is £950/£1100 respectively which is doable) and won't cost too much in upkeep.

They are very respectable on petrol given their performance. You can be lead footed and still get over 30 mpg.

So i went to see this today, it seemed reasonable, quite a few stone chips on the front though and the allows are quite scuffed, its had 3 owners, only has 1 service on the service history although it did say on the clock that it had 4000 miles till its next service so i guess it has been serviced.

I noticed though after we had been for the test drive that there looked like oil in the exhaust and there was some smoke coming from it, i dont know if thats normal or not, its the reason i didnt put the deposit down on it as im not mechanically minded at all, its a fair price, they will do it for £6500.

What do you guys think?

Oil in the exhaust or was it just sooty?

What colour was the smoke, could it not have just been the cold? (Was the car just started from cold when you observed this?)
