E92 headlamp washer cover gone

Thanks, I've actually already been to the dealer and ordered the part for £10 plus VAT, they estimated £30 + VAT for painting so you are spot on. I just thought I'd see if anyone else had had the problem, since if I can save myself a few quid I may as well, as would anyone. Especially as there are some who have had this problem have also had the jets need replacing as well due to the same issue, which is not cheap. Luckily it just seems to be the cover with me.

The part you've ordered comes unpainted - you can actually buy it direct from BMW painted - the £39 includes VAT.

Edit: Actually that part is only listed for the SE. Oddly the M Sport one is primed only. How bizarre, I'd have thought it was the same part...

I have filled my washer bottle up for the first time in over a year today, no idea how much it holds, I bough a 5L bottle and it took all that and still wasn' full

Just looking at the parts breakdown for this:

02 Telescopic nozzle 2 61677179311 $45.88
02 Telescopic nozzle 2 61674449335 ENDED

So looks like they've come up with a new part at some point?

The cap was missing on my 330d when I bought it. New one was peanuts from BMW - easy to fit.

I think they break off if you spray your headlamps at speed - due to the force of the air combined with the spring which pulls the washers back in.

Kick off if they dont, its only come off because its a crap design.

I looked at a 330i at a main dealer where they had been glued on and popped off when I tried them..

Alternatively, if you only blip the washer lever it won't active the headlamp washers, it will just squirt screen wash onto the windscreen. Then do a manual wipe.

If you're really lucky you will loose the washer jet nozzle assembly and not just the painted cover = £££

Apparently, it is not covered, as it is my responsibility to "maintain the concentration of the jets"....

Hmmmm, seeing as the resevoir was only recently re-filled AFTER the problem had occured (by me), and before that the car was direct from the dealer, this is very annoying...

I cannot prove this however, so do I just say this to them and see what the reaction is?

 Don't let this happen again, it made me loose faith in humanity. :D

Mine was close to falling off, so I started using screenwash in half second bursts.

Crap design. Was I surprised..no? Slowly everything was becoming crap in that car to me by then.

Luckily this headlight business was at the end of my ownership.

I got a E91 Touring from BMW in January and the washers froze solid in the cold snap a weekends ago. I hadn't replaced the fluid myself, so it was what was already in the car when supplied by BMW - a mixture obiously not strong enough in antifreeze!

Thankfully I noticed that my washer covers were sitting more raised out of the bumper instead of sitting flush so I kept a close eye on them. When the temperature rose and the washers started working again I immediately went around to the front of the car to find both washer covers on the driveway! I counted myself pretty luck with this, if I had used then for the first time whilst on the road I would be in the same position as the OP.

BMW had the car last week and put them back on so no drama's. Fluid now topped up with a high concentration mixture!

Mine gets filled, maybe once a year. One quick squoosh is all it needs and I try not to sit up the bum of the person infront to avoid dirt / spray. It's really not very hard.
