Don't worry about chest size for bibs. The most important measurement is back length but it's rarely used and no one actually measures theirs. Remember they are Lycra so they stretch.

Cheers for the advice, I've gone for the XXX-L in the Nalini Palma's as I'm 6ft4, hopefully they'll be long enough and the exta width in the waist will mean more vertical stretch/chest stretch.

Try to eat when your cycling as well. You probably dont need to for a 1.5 hour ride but for longer rides you'll need to be eating whilst cycling.

Dont leave it until the KK to dicover that all those energy bars that you stuffed your pockets with actually make you feel sick and wish you'd taken something else. Find out what works for you beforehand. Also, there will be 3 food stops on the way round, which you should definately take advantage of, but dont rely on them. Take more food with you than you think you'll need. Its much worse to run out of energy miles away from the next stop than it is to carry a little bit of extra weight of food, even if you dont use it.
Good to know, cheers :)

I'm a Cornish pasty kinda guy. The savoury carbs/protein/fat balance in them really works for me. Tuna sandwiches in brown and flapjacks are another favourite :D

I managed to get my rear wheel stuck in a little trough in our underground car park at work and twisted on it slightly meaning it's not 100% true anymore - does anyone know roughly how much it will cost to get trued?

In terms of kit I'd need padded shorts, no question.

I used to ride 60 to 100k a day and yes i can confirm you will need padding. I ended up buying some padded underwear from Primera (~£15 each) and worked wonders. I took 3 pairs on my cycle to sweden and not an issue, plus i could wear them underneath anything i wanted.

Nutrition starts to become a problem as well, for me anyway. I was eating all day yesterday and got hungry during my ride. I had dinner as soon as I got in and then a second dinner two hours later. Today I have mouth ulcers, so I've obviously used up my vitamin reserves.

Again as above, make sure you replenish vitamins and minerals. I used the electrolyte drinks that you can buy from tesco or asda and prepare yourself. Iirc i used the lemon one while cycling and the strawberry one in the evening. They do have different uses it's not just a matter of taste btw.
Forgot to mention i also had a few mini snicker bars (or mars or bounty depending what i found in the shops i visited) in my pockets for easy access while riding. You don't want to eat too much while excersising but a little snack once in a while is a good thing. Also small sandwiches with either jam or honey will do the trick (by small i mean a quarter of a normal bread slice)

I do have a mouth full of ulcers at the moment and I have no doubt the long ride sapped me of my vitamin stash. Need to hit the multivits to replenish :(

Ach, I've got a cold breaking out so I'm hoping it'll get a move on so it's clear again by next week. Other than a lack of padded shorts, which I'll sort out next week, I should be good to go :D

Phoned the LBS and they said I should have same day turnaround on my wheel as they're not too busy, result!

Hopefully my new bib shorts arrive today or Saturday and I can have a decent long ride on Sunday to test them and the newly trued wheel.
