Noel Fieldings Luxury Comedy

I saw Fielding do stand-up at my uni about a decade ago. It was similar to this - no direction, mostly surreal and, at that point, seemingly made up on the spot. Overall it was unfunny. I didn't watch the Mighty Boosh because of it but eventually liked it when I did, mainly because the surreal elements he injected added to the whole. He seems now to have gone back to his own thing which mirrors his stand-up and has returned to being terrible.

Watched this last night for the 1st time and found it quite enjoyable.

not funny, but enjoyable.

It was like watching early 70's kids TV
Yes, that's definitely part of the appeal for me.

Last night's episode was more of the same: enjoyable and not particularly funny [the wonderful exception being the Fantasy Man 'flip' :D]. And I do think he's got more talent at voices [i.e. what makes certain voices/accents/delivery funnier than others] than he gets credit for.

I actually caught the latest episode of this last night, what....the......****

The mountain is tutting again?

What does that even mean?!

Unfunny and won't last more than one season

Wow... if you need meaning in your comedy, you are in deepest Wrongplace with Fielding!

I get random comedy, Ross Noble is the king of random comedy, he can make you laugh just by saying "There's a face, next muffin"

But Noel Fielding, just no

Weirdly, I just imagined Ross Noble saying "the mountain is tutting again" and I laughed, must be his accent or something

Aye, it's long been accepted that Northern accents [in fact, anything from Birmingham upwards] are perceived as inherently more funny than those from the Southern bit.

Though of course, there are always going to be exceptions [Eddie Izzard and Simon Evans are the first to spring to mind], which suggest that delivery and context have some importance too.

This show don't make me laugh like the boosh does, but for some reason i like to watch it because it's stupidly random? Even though i don't find it that funny, i dunno its weird and i expected a bit more from it. I missed Thursdays ep.

Love this show, watched it go out live and have since watched back on 4oD. I can totally see why people would hate it but hey, vive la difference!!

.

Saw an advert for it again last night and it looked a whole lot funnier.. Better characters and Richard Ayoade was in it too.

Has it got better ? Dare i load 4oD ! How many episodes have there been now is it 3 ?

I watched the 3rd episode last night. It wasn't as good as the second but it raised a few laughs. I'll keep watching.

I couldn't help but feel the 'tutting' mountain bit was aimed at everyone in this thread :D

Just watched the first ep of this. I thought it was pretty painful but I wasn't expecting anything else.

I loved The Boosh(the radio show especially is brilliant!) but have never really been a Fielding fan tbh, it is pretty obvious that Julian Barret is the one who knows what he is doing and Noel Fielding does not work without him to bounce off.

I enjoyed the Boosh but the adverts for this put me off as too much Fielding doesn't appeal to me. I might smirk at some of his stuff but as others have said, without a straightman to bounce things off the show seems to be missing something.

Will watch one episode but based on multiple appearances on NMTB and literally the worst standup I've ever seen when he pretended to be a fly for 10 minutes on Live at the Apollo I'm not expecting to like it.

The fly thing was painful to watch. I liked the Boosh, but I'm not getting in to this one. It just seems entirely disjointed, and the funny bits are few and far between.
