The Falklands thread

Do they not carry cruise missles as well?

As far as I know, yes. That should be enough of a message not to mess around with us. But then as others have already stated in the thread it's looking like it's just some sort of power play to win votes. Especially when their president started off with threats, and has now decided to do a complete U-turn in stance and start whining to the U.N, and practically begging for a peaceful solution. We aren't the ones that instigated this tension in the first place.

Seriously what next, accusing us of collaborating with aliens to wipe them out or something? :P

Also their whining that the islanders don't matter because their a non-native population is laughable.

Argentina can not lose a territory because there is a group .. that chooses to live a different fate. This population came after the invasion. This is not an indiginous population.

Yes because all of the Argentines are indiginous right, no Spanish or Italian blood in there at all not like they were part of an empire that invaded that continent.. oh wait.

I live fairly close to Aldershot and there has been a massively increased military presence on the roads around here in the last few days. Of course, I'm taking this as infallible evidence that we are about to invade Argentina. After we've kicked out their government we can sell the whole place as scrap to ******.

Perhaps this is what the Argentinian government are trying to hide amid the furor they're stirring up over the Falklands non-issue....

From reading the article, it would appear that the Argentine government are trying to use legislation to make themselves the only source of information regarding their economy, and have even gone so far as to fine a consultant $125,000 for issuing "false information" when her inflation forecast conflicted by quite some margin with the rather rosy picture their own ministry of finance and economics had been putting out.

Why dont we just invade the Argies?

Simple really, clear them out.. then the Falklands is a non issue.. too many poofs in the world these days, war is the only way to solve issues, so lets get on with it and do it properly.. none of this tactical muck, just nuke it too the ground, bombs, those biological ones that infect and kill people, all of that.

Then send in the troops and its a shoot on sight policy. If the Argies didnt want it, they would surrender, its not as if they have to go through it.

Are you serving or have served in the Armed forces?

Likely you are just another poof with a keyboard!

Invade Argentina? "lol"

Although I wouldn't be opposed to deploying the aircraft to make the Typhoon detachment upto a full squadron, and perhaps forward deploy an E-3 Sentry AWACS aircraft and a tanker (a Tristar or a Voyager), and that way make the islands absolutely unassailable to the Argentinians.

It's just a shame we've withdrew our Sea Eagle anti-ship missiles from use. An air deployed anti-ship missile would be a great boost to the Falklands defence. While our submarines are awesomely capable, and the Argentine Navy has no counter to them, they aren't as flexible as aircraft due to the massive difference in transit speeds. Perhaps with the withdrawal from Afghanistan coming up, we could free up some funding to integrate the stock of Harpoon anti-ship missiles we bought for the now scrapped Nimrod fleet on the Typhoon.

The Americans were the opposite of supportive of the FW1

There were rumours they gave intelligence to the Argentinians. The French were certainly happy to sell them missiles.

Hahahaha!

I know.. old post but still... Did you know the first use of a stinger missile to shoot down a plane in combat was done by a Brit... In the Falklands... Did you know The US parked a large Oil tanker off Ascention with the proviso "give them whatever they want"... To say nothing of the secret sat coms and GPS the US provided us...:p

Also the French stalled the supply of new Exocet missles (which had been ordered prior to the start of the war) and provided us with training on how to deal with attack by them.

after we threatened the french that we would nuke Argentina if they didnt give us the codes. they werent exactly pleased with handing them over as it was perceived to ruin their sales value.

Something tells me you haven't thought this through.
