Whitney Houston dead

Some insensitive people up in here

Amy Winehouse was not a shame, it was pretty much expected

Whitney Houston is a horrific loss to the music scene, that song "I will always love you" was instantly recognisable and along with a few other 80s/90s songs pretty much became a staple.

Have you ever seen a Valentines/Love compilation CD without Whitney on it?
Just like have you ever seen a Christmas compliation CD without Slade on it?

It was only a matter of time before we saw this headline for Houston , she was a massive drug user and become quite frankly a disgusting human being. Her career in the music industry does not instantly redeem her of what was ultimately her personal attitude and choices in life.
so RIP and all that, but I dislike when people all of a sudden idolise someone in death.

Agreed. RIP Whitney. :(

Wonder if the guilt is starting to set in for Bobby Brown.

i think it was pretty clear to everyone that bobbi brown had nothing to do with whitneys demise into drug abuse, she was already well down the road to addiction and partys way before she married brown.

and to add brown has been clean for many years now, including being a bit of a fitness fanatic, since his daughter was born to his current partner.

it was also part of the reason bobbi brown and whitney didnt really manage to get back togther, he was clean, she wasnt.

truly a sad day, although to say she will be missed is a little off......

she was already very dearly missed while she was living..by her fans who just had to realise that the whitney magic was gone forever.

RIP :(

GD, I've never been so ashamed off some of you. Thanks to 5UB for deleting some posts.

Whatever you think of her, Whitney was highly successful, and impacted a large number of lives. I'm almost certain that thousands of weddings have had her songs played, and they have brought joy to many.

Not to mention she really can belt one out, when others really struggle.

Regardless of her later years, she was still great.

ok.

very good voice - sorry for her family.

Why are people shocked though - superstars can die as well... just like the rest of us....

A shame at the very least, Whilst her music had no bearing or influence on me, I grew up in the generation of her music. It strikes me as strange that for some-one who portrayed herself as a clean cut global superstar, That it ended in self destruction.

From what I remember about her at her peak, She was an inspiration to the younger generation, Won every conceivable accolade at the time and was probably the most iconic female artist of her generation, Even surpassing Madonna imo and she did not have that outrageous streak that Madonna had either.

Though, for me her troubles started with the well publicized marriage to Bobby Brown, I always saw that as her path to destruction and if I remember right, I think she was pretty much slammed for getting involved with Bobby Brown, The proverbial bad boy of hip-hop. Of course as already mentioned he has allegedly cleaned up his act, Which Whitney did not....Sometimes we can not exercise our Demons no matter how hard we try..Love her or hate her, Even her most ardent critic can not deny that she was and is a true legend of her generation....R.I.P Diva.
