Greenlizard0 Weekend Football Thread ** spoilers ** [10th - 14th Feb 2012]

Can we just leave the Suarez thing behind now? Views are obviously entrenched over the main issue but, for whatever reason, there's been an apology about the handshake part this afternoon so that's over now.

I'm sure Liverpool and united want to put this ugly episode behind them.

I do have 2 things to add but not anything worth debating: Those who said it was Evra who didn't go for the handshake and got their picture evidence out 'haha.'

Also, I wish there could have just been an apology sooner about the whole issue, even before it went to the FA. Regardless of who's version of events was closer to the truth I can't help but feel if there'd been a statement issued along the lines of: 'Sorry for any cultural misunderstanding, I am not a racist and will strongly defend myself against any allegations that I am, but I do accept that I used a word that, while in my culture, does not necessarily cause offence, could have offended my opponent yesterday. Now I am aware of this I will ensure I do not use this word in English football in the future and would like to express my regret at having used it on this occasion.'

I think to many of us that would have been case closed.
 
Firstly neither Suarez or Dalglish have actually apologised. Secondly there hasn't been an apology to Evra himself yet. Thirdly it does seem like Ray has been sacked, at least G.Nev is doing the analysis on this game. :)
 
Happy to leave it, problem being, he'll do something next week probably. Though with the way it seems like people have stepped in and told Dalglish to sort it out, maybe they've also told Suarez to stay out of the ruddy papers for a few weeks. Then again how on earth could he not know that last week when he comes on and has his usual tirade(s) at the ref over nothing, kicking, eye gouging, etc, etc. He can't seem to help himself.

I wouldn't be surprised if he's subdued for a few weeks, nor if he, like Barton eventually can't help himself doing something utterly stupid.

Couldn't City have played in Light blue? I am sitting quite far away from the screen and I can barely tell the difference!

I suppose the players are more important though:rolleyes::p

Thirded. I wondered why they don't let city play in their light blue.

On a related note, 2 - 1 to Villa will be the final score. I would say one of the goals will come from Heskey but I don't think you would take me seriously.
