Dear Esther... Stunning!

I thought i saw something towards the end actually, at the little hill where the house is just before the final climb up to the stairs to the becon

Took me about 1.5 hours.
I enjoyed it a lot, though agree its not really a game. I think I understood the plot. I saw the ghost once too.
Visuals are stunning, as good an environment as I've seen in a game.

Went to download this one, but the main site now seems to be down... account suspended - bandwidth limit exceeded!

It looks as if must have been far more popular than they expected!

Is there anywhere else can it be obtained from?

spoiler... snip...

I've seen atleast 3 one near the start, the one you spotted and then later on theres like a WW2 bunker overlooking the beach and one shows beside that near the candle. There are probably more but they are really hard to spot.

Wondering who they are of, got a feeling the story is supposed to be the narrators reflection on his journey to the point before he jumps (so at the start your already at the top of the beacon) and your seeing yourself so to speak.

I didn't see any ghosts, but I'll play it some more. I got to the end. I kinda agree with RPS guy on it. Am I disappointed in it, though? Not even slightly.
Like him (read link) for me it was a lights off, headphones on experience... and since I didn't have anything to do other than wander around .... well I won't say what I was thinking about, but ... yeah :)

Replaying it atm, some of the dialog at key points is the same but quite a bit of the rest is random/different and a couple of other things have changed (nothing major).

this will make you laugh.

First of all whats with the word damascus? why is the capital of syria being mentioned.. which let me remind you is at this moment of time on verge of civil war, it said on the wall "damascus is now a ruined heap"

there was all electronic diagrams written on walls and at one point in chapter 3 you get a flash into a city submerged in water by weston super maire.

I couldnt help but think, this man has survived an end of world / ww3 scenario?
Uk under water.... Damascus in a ruined heap (nuke)

His girl esther died and he doesnt want to be alone anymore so jumped.. he turned into a seagull suggesting he was now free.

and basically he was explaining what happend in a fancy way?

LOL seriously confused, but i suppose thats what it wants you to feel!

Run's super smooth and looks stunning.

It's amazing what can be achieved with such an old engine, albeit a recently modified portal 2 version. The wide field of view gives it a totally different feel and really adds to it :)

I can't wait to explore it a bit more as I've only played about 30 mins so far. I got lost a few times too and wandered in circles :p

I'm really keen to pick this up, do like supporting indy devs and I know £6.99 isn't a lot these days but that's quite a bit for a 90 minute experience.

^ Yeah. Honestly, the only reason I haven't yet picked it up is because of how short it is. I agree that £7 is hardly anything, but the price relative to the game's length is what is putting me off. I'll just wait until it's 50% (or even 33%) off in a future sale.

You just know someone is going to do a mod of this and fill it to the brim with combine and have alyx as your sidekick ;)

I don't mind paying £7 for it, but novelty value aside it is only say £3.99 worth really.

I've just finished it and have to say in my opinion it's more of a tech demo than anything. Screenshots don't do it justice, when you see it in motion it really is nice. If you hold left click you get a pretty much standard fps field of view but when you let go and it goes back to wide angle it makes you realise just how much more you can see and how amazing it looks for it.

It looks incredible. Some of the lighting and water effects in the caves was beautiful.
The atmosphere with the music and sounds is great too and although I don't mind that it cost £7 I would have to agree that really it should have only been 3.99 or 4.99.

I enjoyed it but was left wanting more really. It also made me realise that if they made a Half Life 3 with the portal 2 engine and spent the time to get the details right like they have in this it would blow people away. Old engine or not.

To sum it up I'd say it's beautiful for someone who appreciates game art but only worth £5 really.

It was quite interesting and nice looking. Didn't last too long though, even though I did look around the different paths quite a bit.

Assuming what I think is the end, is actually the end?
After you jump off the tower and fly around for a bit, the game just stayed on a black screen. Not sure if there's anything after that, or I was just being impatient!

I thought it was alright. The story didn't really grip me much though, and half the scenery was actually pretty boring. It could have been placed in any game and I wouldn't of spent half as much time looking at it as I did in this game (mainly due to the speed limit, which was at times a little annoying. Usually when I realise I have to go back because I took a longer route).

There were a few brilliant parts though. The caves were stunning, and...
on a couple of occasions I saw a ghostly figure which dissapeared as I got closer. The subtlety in it was perfect. Though at the very end if you look at the fence you very clearly see someone staring at you, and it's pretty creepy. Doesn't move it's head as you move though which is a shame.
And then the ending itself gave me a few chills.

But overall I did find it a little boring, and I doubt I'll ever touch it again.
