LARP vs COSPLAY

You should check out some of the re-enactment crew. If you want serious buisness it's right there.

I know guys with full on plate male and ******* swords that go at each other like juggernauts, sparks flying and the lot!

Then we all get drunk drinking flagons of mead around the fire and the real halarity starts when a couple of guitars get whipped out and the historical songs start to turn into recent music.

There's something amusing about them singing stone roses songs and the like...

... damn it, need to get me a sword and some proper armour.

Sounds good, I like the idea of Larping with some viking looking dudes and then indulging in a massive banquet of some description. Although, I don't drink so probablly wouldn't be as much fun, but still.

Nah, I'm pretty sure that they're well observed and ironic. Clever, really.

They're not. I really am this ignorant and I barely pay attention to the post I respond to. Instead, a veritable wall of whine escapes my fingers and appears on the screen and then I move on to the next post (which I also don't read before responding to). I offer literally nothing of value to this or any other subforum here on OCUK and the boards would probably benefit from me not posting things I know nothing about in threads I haven't even read.

I also don't know what irony means but at least I have my anime I suppose

This isn't a dig at you - and is not really anything to do with the thread - but you seem absolutely obsessed with anime and the people that watch it. It's not my chosen pass time so this is said as a neutral but I can't see how it bothers you that much. You take every opportunity to have a rant about it, I wouldn't expect you to be trolling?

As I say, not meant as an aggressive post but I am genuinely interested.

No, it's not trolling but you're right, it probably shouldn't bother me so much. I think it stems from two other boards I frequent - well, one board in particular - where the level of obsessiveness over ~*MY ANIMES!*~ and ~*GLORIOUS NIPPON*~ reaches frankly absurd heights. It's simply unbelievable that human beings can operate like that : preferring 2D women to 3D women (cartoons to real women), obsessing about moving to Japan to write anime (they've generally dropped out of school or college), and have sociopathic tendencies that would make Patrick Bateman wince.

Let's just say it's coloured my impression of anime lovers and the whole 'scene'. I hope that answers your question :)

To be fair, I guess LARP has always interested me, but in a way that goes against the entire idea of it. I've always secretly fantasized about dressing up in medieval costumes with proper swords and running into a massive, real battle with thousands of other people - each of us facing either sudden death or the slight chance of overcoming the enemy for victory.

I'll leave now. :o

Bro, I know that feel. Every sodding time I read A Song of Ice and Fire, or a Gemmell book, or so on. I have absolutely no doubt in my mind that I'd die a slow death, or be cut down in seconds, but still.

EDIT: need to look into re-enactments tbh, remember seeing one at the local stately hall (Gawthorpe), and enjoyed it!

Hurrah a fello ASoIaF fan. :D Love those books! I need to read the whole lot again as it became a bit blurry in my head by the time the latest one came out. Grrr!

Enactments look like good fun to be honest. "I used to be an axe-wielding maniac like you, but then I took an arrow in the knee!" :p I've always wanted to do one of those medieval banquets with buxom serving wenches as well.

They are probably the ones with their own Youtube "Look at me in this tight top!" channels. :p

Lol'ed!

Yeah, I may look up what ones there are in the north-west. Considering the amount of history Lancashire has (War of the Roses etc), I don't doubt there'll be a good couple at least.

That's comparable to being surprised/angered that there are other alcoholics at your AA meeting.

Questions would arise why you frequent such forums as they sound like a basement dweller HQ.

"but I go there 4 teh lulz" never really works to be honest, to frequent somewhere it attracts your interests or some other issues that should only be discussed behind closed doors on an extremely comfortable looking "U" shaped couch*.

*They may not actually be U shaped, I can't verify that.

Fair enough :)

They used to do Larp in a mill, near the irish league a few years ago. Dont know if it still goes on there.

I like comic books, video games, Sci Fi Movies & TV Shows. I also like Anime.

And with regards to LARP and cosplay, I dont mind either. I do neither. but each to their own, As although I have no interest in LARP. I do quite like the concept of COSPLAY. Would never do it, but would happily go along to a convention where other do.

People who judge others for doing what looks like harmless fun. Well **** you, Is all I can say to those judgemental wastes of space. :)

Very clever come back!

1. It has no bearing on the thread
2. It makes zero sense with regards to what I said

You may as well have taken a line from scrubs and said

"SO'S YA FACE!"

Aww, You upset that I didn't play into your 'I'm gonna pick apart your answer with my superior wit' game?

Answer 1: Yes I own a sex doll
Your reply :lolpatronisingandjudgementalanswer

Answer 2: No I dont own a sex doll
Your reply: ohwhynotisitbecauseyourejudgementalofthepeoplethatdohaveonelololol

I went for secret Answer 3: brush off the conversation with you and go watch an episode of fringe. it was a good one, They're just digging up the end of the world device called the vacuum, although i secretly suspect it's going to open a constant portal between realities, rather than end the world right away.
