I think it's intentionally like that so that they don't get sunk easily when transporting from Spawn. It's a pain, but you just have to keep distance from the grenade launcher's accuracy and hope somebody else will help you take it down too!

Makes sense, but it still seems to be far too hard to destroy, and it doesn't help that the majority of randoms on servers, don't work as a team; so you often end up being the only person trying to blow it up - last night was hilarious, team meats just left the things sat at the flag and couldn't work out where the constant flow of enemy were coming from.... ermmm..... it's a mobile spawn point :D

Anybody around for some games tonight? I'm ashamed to say I've only played with randoms so far, but have the whole evening free, so want a good few games tonight!

Xbox GT: David Evans, I'll be on probably from 6:30pm tonight.

What the hell have Dice done to this game! I've just played a couple of hours with a buddy and 60-70% of deaths have been to USAS with frag rounds

I cannot believe some muppet has programmed such an overpowered gun into the game - this thing is easily the most deadly weapon I have seen; it even puts the tank's main cannon to shame.... that's not right.

Close, Medium, and even sniper like range, it has such stupidly high accuracy, and you're dead in two, maybe three hits if you're lucky, and considering most of the guns using it are rapid fire; you're often dead before you know.

It's like this gun has fallen from MW3 and landed in BF3, and now pretty much ever game I play has retards whoring it up - I wouldn't mind if there was an ounce of skill in using it, like having to be up close, but it seems unbeatable at any range, so leaves you with naff all chance really.

Christ on a bike, do you think anyone actually tests these things before releasing them into the wild? I guess they had a whole host of CoD fans testing this, as it seems totally out of place in the game.

Roll on the patch to sort it - it needs to go back to being a shotgun, close range, and not so powerful.

Vent over.

Its just the frag rounds that are the problem.

The other rounds buckshot, fleschete etc.. are all short range, and the slug ammo is effectively a bullet so every shot has to be on target, with no slash damage.

The horrible thing about the frag rounds is that they explode on impact, and have a splash damage, so even if they miss and hit your feet, you still get your health knocked down.

They also have a supression effect, which if the user has sqaud SUPR on, adds 50 % to the supression which makes it almost impossible to shoot back.

Trouble is, they are such god damn fun :D i don't spend every game doing it, usually only metro. But if somebody else starts first, i have no gripes about dishing them out some of their own medicine.

Trouble is, getting ashore on maps like Canals is so hard without it, as your transport can get so easily raped by the helicopters. The scout choppers rip into the rib boats for example.

Yes its annoying, but when you're team is using it its a god send to ensure you dpn't spend the entire round on the carrier waiting to get raped trying to get ashore.

Rob instead of whoring the USAS like a bitch, practise some chopper flying :p

I don't play much metro for the very reason of the USAS n00bs, and if I do play I flank the muppets and own them with my trusty AEK.

:D

Had my first game on PS3 today with a sniper who was using the MAV to get up to the very top of the map.

On highway he was up on the overpass, and due to the level design you couldn't shoot at him but he could shoot down, very dumb. Also went on the roof of the hotel on Karkand, could shoot them there though.

Easy way to sort it though, just broke out the mortar which made it easy then. It was able to hit the overpass where bullets were unable to, and enabled me to hit the middle of the hotel roof to get the spawn points they'd laid.

Did try using my MAV first to destroy their equipment but on Karkand it couldn't get on top of the hotel.

I keep trying to get time in the chopper, but i keep on ending up with noob pilots and stick me into the ground, or go off chasing aircraft leaving their back exposed to the enemy chopper.

Need to get some more time with some decent pilots i think. You're about the only one on my friends list that enjoys playing regularly and likes the chopper. Vulturous Piano likes to fly, but he's not been on in ages.

This annoys me too, so I never have guided shell equipped any more, only when I'm with people that I know will use it!

I'll be on again later tonight for a bit if anyone is around.

All the more reason to play with friends. Not very often you play with randoms that work together.

Had two very good but also very annoying games on Kharg Island yesterday, first game we were defending. We joined just after it started and they stormed the first 3-4 points on Rush, but we ended up holding the last point until the last ******* ticket. All the team got cocky and pushed forward hunting for the last few kills, I stayed back to have 3 of them rush me, took out two then died. Last guy on the last ticket planted the bomb and they won :( Gutted....

Then we were attacking, I jumped in the helicopter as the gunner and the pilot could really fly! skimming just a few feet from the surface, racked up loads of kills but we were not getting anywhere so went for the bomb points. Got to the very last point, literally a few tickets to go, planted the bomb.... once again held off a few but always one more than I had bullets for with no team mates to back me up... yup, they defused and we lost the game. Even though I came away with a 41-16, I still felt annoyed we lost!!

I do love how you can die 10 times, get 3 kills but still come away knowing you had an awesome game because you planted the bombs and/or defended the points rather than getting pointless kills.

Had a load of good games recently. My girlfriend's living with me for a month whilst she moves into her new place, which sounds like it would be a negative when it comes to BF3. But to the contrary, she's awesome (ie doesn't moan at me playing) and she's got her/my 42" Plasma with her as well. Combined with my 50" Plasma and you end up with something like this:

Me and my mate spent 3 hours odd playing on Sunday after a strong coffee and we were buzzing. Had a load of good games on Squad Deathmatch, fortunately with two randoms who knew how to work as a team: http://battlelog.battlefield.com/bf3/battlereport/show/30860247/2/355313792/. Soots is my friend, and whilst the other guys look like they have a **** score they helped us keep the IFV alive the entire game :D.

Also racked up a load of points as Recon. If you've already got the MAV and want to level up fast then whip it out in an outside game of Team Deathmatch. I got about ~3000 points and was top of the scoreboard with 0 kills and 2 deaths :p. Did it to get the Surveillance medal and the 10k points but useful generally. Plus your team is almost guaranteed to win.

thats the most annoying part about squad death match, its all about who keeps the IFV for the longest.

Does anyone have any issues with the built in voice chat for squads/team? I can't hear anyone when they talk. I have the option on the squad menu set to Squad but I've also tried Team, and still nothing, even though I can see that people are talking by the little animation next to their name.

I use a 5.1 speaker setup with the Wartapes audio option if it makes a difference, shouldn't though I wouldn't of thought.

i think theres something up with your setup

I was talking to you in party chat the other day all night and you never once talked back.

I thought you were, didn't hear you at all though :(. That's why I left and rejoined the party to see if it did anything. Sorry about that!

Will have to test my headset, something seems off.

Edit, my brother just tried mine for me and it works for him. Maybe its the controller. Will try my spare one tonight.

Haha, was funny listening to that. Martin, it kept coming up that you were talking, but there was no sound from you. So like the problem you're having, but for everyone else.
