Video Game Raging = Personal Experiences

Other gamers raging makes me rage. I don't consider myself a great Call of Duty player, or even a good one for that matter, but I do have my moments. Whenever I FINALLY have a good start to a game, have a bunch of kill streaks lined up, etc. the host ALWAYS pulls the plug and the game drops.

In order:

When games don't work (BF3 99% of the time until recently for me)
When people ruin my games by cheating with aimbots etc...
When I play crappy vs sucky opponents even though I know I can do way better

I don't get mad on single player games unless it's a problem with the game.

I remember rage quitting quite a lot in CS 1.6 back in the day, just from constantly dying. More recently Football Manager Live induced a few rage's when players do stupid things, and unlike FM11/12 you could not reload a save :p

In Fifa when the AI just plays keep ball and runs back down their own half for no reason. Also teams that are rubbish in real life but pass like Barca in the game.

If I'm losing I don't rage, I just get slightly annoyed and go and do something else.

I've never lost it, punched the monitor or anything that could be called "rage" such as that.

I also get a bit annoyed with games that don't work as they should or ctd, really grinds my gears how bug ridden pc gaming can be at times.

I have a half-smashed Xbox 360 controller in my room somewhere, you can see the trigger mechanism.

The Power of COD. :)

CoD 4 promod was the worst for me, didn't use to rage in BF2. But I guess it wasn't so competitive. Pretty much whenever I got killed in cod4 id call whoever did it a **** usually out loud to myself. Hit and broke the keyboard a few times too. Silly really but I can't help it. BF3 isn't so bad now, although less competitive than cod 4 promod was, although still swear a lot when playing it.

Thing is I think I like to rage in some odd way. Gets the heart pumping :D

BF3 for me

1) When being shot down by enemy jet while I am on the runway and preparing to take off:mad:

2) Getting killed from behind my back as soon as I respawn

Actually seeing these enemies on killcam make me rage!!!!!

You need to categorise which kind of rage a person is experiencing.

A competative game (CS for example) you're the last man alive or something and lose, it's obvious you're going to rage.

But if you're on your own raging at solo games, or mario kart, it's a serious anger issue. :p

I had a friend who would rage so badly at Mario Kart he would bounce on his chair like a maniac, hilarious when I was 14, not so looking back.

I find the worst rage moments for me come in games that involve one-on-one competition. It's the fact I've been bettered by an opponent and made to feel inferior that makes me the most angry, as anybody competitive will testify. It is so much worse than the rage induced by somebody exploiting a bug, a game crashing out on you, something just being really hard or terrible partners / allies.

I'd agree with that. BF3 is a perfect example of how a good experience in a game can be ruined by a few people. People cheating or glitching to give their side an unfair advantage really winds me up. I'm more inclined to calm down and stay on the server though with good admin present.

I have no issues with losing at something fair and square and on equal terms, yet when the scale is tipped in someones favour due to cheating, the sportsman side of me comes rushing out and I go mental :D

I tend to rage more at the games AI and difficulty levels. Fifa as mentioned above is a classic example, put it on semi-pro its a little bit of a challenge but can often be a little easy while the next level up (professional) is throw-the-controller-at-the-wall levels of hard. Don't get me wrong I like a challenge but when a game becomes out-right impossible to beat...

Another one that I recall is the COD games SP on veteran, shoot one guy, another 10 appear and spam you with grenades.

Don't get that much rage from MP games, I get more annoyed with my own team mates running around generally being worthless than with the opposite team.

I used to rage when playing platformers on the 8bit consoles. So many teeth marks in my pads :o

I head butted my brothers gameboy when I was a lot younger and broke the screen. I've also broke a fair few controllers in my time:p

I still get angry sometimes but I dont break anything anymore, I can't very well smash up my £1700 laptop though....

Typing all that makes me look like a bit of a nut job i guess, but I dont have anything on the guy who threatened to beat and rape me in a club recently......now that is a psychopath!!

watch the rage quit video's on youtube if your into this, he does 'put it on' so it won't help your research but its funny :) 'monopoly street' is good

can't link due to the liberal swearing but its very easy to find :)

Sounds perfectly normal to me! :)

BF3, ultra rage. Spawning on a squad member only to be in a line of other mugs mowed down by someone spamming a USAS/M302/RPG/SMAW whatever. RAGGGGGGGEEEEEE.

Lol, your post doesn't agree with anything of what I said. The thing you say you have no issue with is the thing I said annoys me more than cheating / exploits / bad allies / buggy games!

Although come to think of it, my biggest moment of rage came when playing a single player game - Triple Triad on Final Fantasy VIII. I lost pretty much every decent card I had to Edea, prompting me to grab my guitar and put the head of it through the plaster of my bedroom wall at Uni. Stuck the wardrobe in front of it, moved out, never got charged :D
