Who here owns a Renaultsport?

Don't agree. Paying 2500+ for a 172 is madness.

http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/3599572.htm

At £2795 that 182 is significantly more than the £2000 its suggested that you can pick up 182's for. I'd also be slightly concerned about the state of the exhaust as from the pictures it kind of looks like its still the original, although I suppose it may have been replaced at some point.

Cheap 182's are out there but they tend to not have cup packs, belts done and / or high miles

circa £3k + will probably get you one you want to own

I'd say anything more than £3000 is where you can start to pick up reasonable early 182's.
The cheapest 182 within 200 miles of me on autotrader is £2695 and it has 106K miles. Most seem to be priced around £3500.

You're dreaming if you think you can get £3k for anything other than a really low mileage, tidy 182.

I had my 182 up for as little as £1700 before the suspension refresh, and although it is on 144k miles, it's had just about everything replaced.

I didn't even receive one phone call.

Just because a car is advertised at a given price does not mean it will sell for it.

I guess pretty much everyone selling one on Autotrader within 200 miles of me is also dreaming as thats what im basing my opinion on. I guess regional differences in car pricing may be at play though. There are 2 182's in that search priced at over £5K, now that really is dreaming :)

Mike, I imagine that the mileage put a lot of people off your car

I was looking for a 182 when yours was for sale and the mileage and location meant I didn't consider it

Sure, there are a lot of people that are put off by some numbers on the dashboard - but if you were indeed looking at £3k for a tidy 182, then £1700 should have had people snapping at my heels.

The pictures placed of my 182 could easily pass for a 40k mile example - it's a tidy car.

While that might be the case the buyer is also going to be thinking of their resale value once they have put maybe another 20k on it

I've been there before, bought a high mileage car with all the bits replaced and selling it on becomes a pain because most people look at the mileage irrespective of the maintenance schedule

You have to remember the average consumer would prefer a car with 50k and no service history than a fully maintained car with 100k on it. Why because they are retarded!

Mike, I think the major barrier to selling your car is the fact you are on the Isle of Wight. Its retarded I know, but people will see that it involves a ferry and all that hassle and just not bother.

Wow, these cars seem awfully cheap. Seriously making me reconsider.

Anyone in Glasgow(ish) (I've got a car atm so can travel) want to take me out for a 'convincer' ride? :)

I can't find any decent looking 182s for £2k, but there are quite a few 172 cups for under £2k. Hmmm tempting.

I'm back to sunny Scotland in April, if you've not bought by then.

If I haven't bought by then, I'll get hold of you. I was fairly stuck on getting an MX5, then more I looked the more I thought about going for a Z4. However, the fact that these are so cheap makes them very tempting - alberit quite the different car!

Just need to find the time to testdrive a few different things and see what I like.
