Contemplating an RS6

Your wrong, I'm selling one...

Touche.

Got a link to it selling, anywhere?

It sounds like what comes with a 450BHP car, but also doesn't sound like they're the best to work on.

I don't know what else I'd look at with that power, that was big enough, and 4WD around that price...?

I'll have a look at some RS4s though Housey.

Is there a difference between S and S-line?

The "S-Line" is simply a trim level. The "S" range on the other hand, have always been Audi's performance cars and not just a trim level. S2,S3,S4,S5,S6,S8 etc.......you get the picture.

The "RS" range is a step up again from the "S" range, it's the pinnacle of Audi high performance cars. Top of the shop performance and costs.

Mine is probably the highest mileage one in the UK at 108k miles but best trade bids are sub 15k. There are others out there for mid-high teens. Id let mine go for 14k private.

I could have bought an RS6 for the same price of my RS2. I didn't, because I was scared.

As has already been made clear, running costs are insane, which is part of the reason they're so cheap. The fact that (so I've seen posted on a couple of forums) Audi charge £3k/year for an extended warranty tells you the kind of bills you can run into.

Epic cars though - shame they've moved to the 'box' arches on the RS6 and the new RS4, the 'curves' arches of the previous models are much more imposing.

Well because for the money you'll spend running an RS6 you can probably buy and run any number of newer high end cars is one reason why not, even if you can afford it.

For some, newer isn't always better.

Quite, but you seemed to imply there was no reason not to buy an RS6 if you could afford to run it. I disagree, there are reasons why you shouldnt buy one. Infact, so many, that as I said before unless you are a particular enthusiast of that particular car, there are many better buys.

Can you offer an example because i did think that an RS6 was pretty much the pinnacle of super fast cars you really can do the office/school run in.

Agreed, you'd have to be a real enthusiast or very ignorant to purchase one.

An enthusiast with the funds wont be bothered by the high costs..... Alas.... This is all subjective!

RS4, E55 AMG, CLS55 AMG, E60 M5 (Though this is perhaps pushing it because its no stranger to completley ridiculous costs itself), 996 Porsche 911, etc. Even more expensive cars make it onto the radar because not spending £10,000 a year fixing broken stuff can be used to just buy a more expensive car in the first place :p

What if the OP simply likes the overall look of the car (along with the performance figures) too?

As for annual costs and frequent repairs. Hmmmmmm he'll have some cool stuff to write on his blog!

An A6 1.8T Sport looks the same and costs £3k? :p

I think its a good looking car but it's not a Ferrari is it - if you want the 'look' to 99% of people its simply an Audi A6 of the shape that now costs no more than £4k tops.

Yet Fox, you haven't mentioned a car with same performance, space and 4WD? Otherwise I'd be looking them up now!!

How do B7 RS4s compare cost to run wise?? i.e. The extra outlay but saves extra in the long run.
