Virgin Media Discussion Thread

I received a letter saying the price of my bundle service (I have no such thing, just BB) was going up by £1.50 and that paper bills would be 25p extra and if I wanted to save £1.75 then I should sign up for direct debit and online billing (already done ages ago).

Weird.

I got that.

I'd leave but ADSL absolutely sucks for upload speeds, and I run a VPN.

Here's me in Norwich

Ping test is always a B though. I thing it might be affecting some video services I use.

Dunno where in Norwich you're getting that sort of decent connection :p
As per normal:

Couple of minor downloads in the afternoon (Think that's the 2PM spike), and did try playing BF2 for a bit, but still absolutely, utterly screwed.

Sky LLU installed tomorrow.........

I was going to say if you're in modem only, try switching and see if it puts you on a different network, but seeing as you're getting Sky installed there's little point.

Hi Chris
Here's a screen print of the total values:

<Outlook.jpg>

So the broadband I will waive, the TV and telephone in total would be £87.70 which as agreed I would halve so that would mean £43.85 to pay.
Kind Regards

Andy

I'm happy with that. I'm already £80 in credit so it wouldn't cost too much.

Now, BT Infinity + Sky HD. Or wait for Sky fibre? I don't want to get Infinity if a few weeks later Sky Fibre comes out, as no doubt it'd be cheaper and all easier to manage etc.

City Centre next to St Giles House Hotel. I run in full Superhub mode. When i switched to modem only, my pings were worse, but my throughput was higher

Been there, done that.

Oddly enough, the last two days things have been getting better. (By that I mean the jitter has dropped to only 20ms :p )
VM *claims* they've fixed the main issue, and ping normally works during the daytime now. Hit peak periods mind, and I'm still getting horrible lag spikes to anything European, and the Thinkbroadband graph looks awful from ~4-11.

I'm in Gertrude Road (Near the Rush Electricals shop), so I suspect you're on a different UBR.
Anyhows, Sky are paying me £75 cashback with any luck, plus I'm saving a nice chunk a month, so I can live with that for a year.

Virgin cancelled, BT Infinity being installed next Thursday.

I just can't deal with this shoddy packet loss in the evenings anymore. It would be good if they could give me a fix date, but "in the Summer" just isn't good enough.

Mine was awful then it went out for 5hrs and came back under a different IP, this is the BEST i've seen VM to be for a long time.

This has been consistently like this since 13th Dec the only thing I noticed was that I was put onto DOCSIS3.

Take it from me, any fix date they give you will keep getting pushed back :o
I first called them in November, and they gave me a date two weeks away, rinse and repeat......

If Virgin could say to me: "your graph will look like that in June this year" then I would stay with them...

Yup, I've been waiting since October and I've lost patience. Even the bloke at their complaints team has admitted he cannot give a fix date.
