** Official World of Warcraft: Cataclysm Thread **

Yeah.

The heroics on release were bloody difficult and blizzard banged on about how good this was (needing CC etc) they quickly climbed down when they realised most pve'ers think CC is a breast cup size and not a game mechanic. They changed it back to wrath aoe spam from troll heroics onwards /yawn.
It's so true... I had a group in Zul'Aman last night I asked them to CC a group and they all just stood shuffling about. !!!

Heroics feel a lot more like vanilla dungeons, people die, going oom and having to focus. It's nice to actually wipe once in a while versus the normal dungeons which are just so easy. Might just run HOTs from now ;)

Is it worth getting back into WoW? I played vanilla in a top guild but it became seriously repetitive.

Expansion -> race for new gear -> get the best gear, become bored

What's it like leveling from 1?

Cataclysm completely revamped the old world, made questing a lot more fun, zones a lot prettier (well, in a decimated by an apocalypse kind of way), brilliant storylines popped up all over and the way classes progressed with talents, skills etc became more refined. The quality of the endgame took a hit because of how much of the effort was put into revamping the old stuff, so you could say that levelling up new characters / alts is the strongest thing the game has going for it at the moment, at least until MoP.

The new re skinned zones in cata are really nice, but what i find annoying is that you only use them for lvling. Once you hit max lvl all you do is sit in a main city hitting the button for LFG + LFR and BG/ARENA to join the queues.

Its like the main cities are just a big chat lobby while you queue for your game type. It don't really feel like a MMO imo, one of the reason why i stopped playing and haven't played in just over a year now.

You're complaining about you not going to the beautiful zones you left behind while levelling?
You can't really complain considering you can go there any time and still do LFG/LFR/BG/Arena whatever you want to do. Only thing it doesn't have is trade chat and sometimes active general.

Yeah i know i could revisit the zones whenever i feel, but there really is no point? What do you gain by going to a old zone at lvl 85?

I've REALLY enjoyed levelling again.

I'm going to level more characters too.

I, like yourself played in very good / top guilds in Vanilla Warcraft, Burning Crusade and Wrath, I got Cataclysm but stopped playing soon after. Really enjoying the return.

Recently came back to this game, and enjoying the new content for now (only been back since Tuesday mind).

But was nice to swap my main from my Rogue to my Deathknight and concentrate on something slightly different. LFR is also a great feature, definitely adds something for those who can't raid regularly and for those who raid but don't get luck on gear so they can fill the gaps with LFR stuff.

Not sure how long I'll stick around this time, but sure I'll at least try and complete Dragonsoul on normal as a goal before the next expansion. :)

Finally hit 40 on my Frost Mage. Really enjoying the game so far. It seems a load more fun than it did a few years ago when I first played.

Noob questions though; When I'm in a dungeon, Please have been asking me for water? a) Am I meant to be able to make water?
b) If they are from another server (which most of the time they are) you can't trade it to them. Am I missing something?

Tol Barad is a bloody nightmare on my server. I know, I know, everybody always moans that their faction is rubbish at PvP (this is probably because the people who do win have nothing to moan about so see no need to get involved in the discussion at all), but we are just beyond awful. We win it maybe once a day (usually at ridiculous hours), and it's always an incredible struggle to do so, whereas the odd occasions the Horde have to win it back they just steamroll it. I haven't played constantly since Cataclysm but in the 100+ Tol Barad battles I've done, we've never successfully defended.

Wintergrasp was too easy for the attacking side, but Tol Barad doesn't have enough to help out the horribly imbalanced servers, for whom the defense on the stronger faction is easier than the attacking ever was in Wintergrasp. It's too late in the expansion for any change, of course, so here's hoping the MoP world PvP zone has a little more thought put into it. And if they struggle to find a balance again, at least revert to the lesser of two evils and make it more like Wintergrasp (which also happened to just be better designed and more fun to partake in).

Exactly what happened to me when I came back after 6 months away - somebody stole my account last year, but I got it back in about an hour with my photo ID! Shame they transferred my main character though!
