audi s3 - aby

Yeah i had considered them, but do like turbo charged delivery. 90k a few too many miles?!

Oh it must be mis advertised then TW ! :/

What about a st or astra vxr?

90k is fine on a N/A car of that age. I am a fan of Tuboed cars but the 130i is in my books a much much better car then a old S3.

5.5K is a lot of money for a pre facelift S3... I would be looking for a facelift one at least, the front looks a whole lot better.

I drive like a granny and my average tank MPG was 27. My journey to work was a 10 minute zip down an A road. The highest I got on a run was 35.

Replaced it with a 3.2 V6 which is (IMO for my needs) a better car in pretty much every way.

Only due to the 4wd, the cupra R is substantially quicker once on the move

err no its not, i managed 2 car lengths on my old man in a modified LCR vs his lightly tuned 3.2 that was in a straight drag from 40 up to well use your imagination and think of a high number

I drove the v6 and it was creamy, but i like to feel like im going 100 i didnt get that when i drove the 3.2.

How would you say the 3.2 is better? What do you get out of your 3.2 - i do a 24 mile trip, which consists of 75% a road (60/70 mph roads) and 25% 30/40 roads...

indeed the 3.2 is a fantastic all rounder, especially with DSG, I have an irrational hatred for auto boxes but the dsg in the 8P is a cracking setup and really changed my views on driving something with 2 pedals

5.5k for a 99 is VERY strong money. That's what mine's going on the market for next week and is a tidy 2001 car. Granted nearly 100k mileage, but you REALLY need to buy on condition and not on mileage with these cars. I've had mine 4 years so if you have any specific questions about the S3 (if you're still considering one!) then feel free to ask. Mine has had a few mods done (including the aforementioned remap) so I'm familiar with that side of it too.

32mpg is a joke though... haha. Figure closer to 27 average.

the 3.2 is very deceptive and hides its speed well. having driven a 285 bhp LCR and a 275 horse 3.2 back to back its a very big difference even when sitting at exactly the same speeds. obviously a few tweaks make it less of a cruiser and make it feel more alive but if you want a reason to buy a 3.2 over an S3 drive a 3.2 with the window open :) when that staggered 6 opens up its a no contest

I found the exhaust tone to be very dummed down on the a3 3.2 i drove, but dont want a drone from after market. Is there a decent after market exhaust?

indeed the fuel figures vary wildly depending on how you drive it, I managed 26 mpg out our LCR my dad managed a healthy 34 mpg out it. the wife managed a staggering 14 mpg over the course of a month :)

plenty of decent aftermarket exhausts out there, its a very subjective thing though,if your hunting for an exhaust for one best advice would be blag a passenger ride in one with exhaust fitted and see for yourself. Old man has a custom made system on his which is spot on, not too boomy but a bit quiet for my taste.
