Free HIV treatment for foreigners.

-comment not to do with hiv tx-

After living in the uk for 5 years
I dont know which country was the worse policy; the uks free health care and not wanting to deport people or the US's southern border crossings and the 20+million illegals living in the states.

It's a shame but so much suffering in the world is because of this mentality.

could you explain to me why I should pay money from MY wages to help out other countrys whilst there goverments and henchmen live the life of luxury?

The suffering is caused because of the countrys top people nobody else

can you also explain what the billions we have already spent has gone in the countrys of origin of these people?
Ohh yeah to line the pockets of the top people so how about we stop wasting money and go sort the top people out and then maybe our money will be well spent untill then they shouldt get anything

I was in KFC the other day and i was about to put my 60p (i know its only 60p) change in the charity tub like i always do until i relised it was for starving people in africa then i put it in my pocket.

Some things deserve my money some things dont and this is one of the things that dont.

The top boss at oxfam earned over £100,000 last year, why doesnt he take a uk average wage and pay the rest to charity?

Playing on peoples heart strings to fleece them of money should be illigal it would end all of this and they would all have to sort themselves out, maybe if they didnt get up to it like rabbits the aids wouldnt be so rife between them, and dont start ont he ohh they got raped, they didnt all get raped for the 16 children they have each

"The top boss at oxfam earned over £100,000 last year, why doesnt he take a uk average wage and pay the rest to charity?"

He does the receive the UK average pay, or well under even, for being the CEO of a large organization. 100K is actually a surprisingly small amount for a position so important.

If charities like OXFAM are to have any impact on the world then they need to have top class managers, CEOS and executive staff to maximize efficiency and maximize effective output. Otherwise tens of millions in charitable donations will simply be wasted.

Just shows what an ignorant position you are in.

Treating HIV is good for public health. End of story.

Quoting this just in case it's edited out later.

Meanwhile a life long tax payer lies dying in bed because the treatment or medicine they need is £50 out of budget guidelines, utter crap!

Please show link to irrefutable evidence to show that this has happened once in recent decades, let alone evidence of wide spread occurrences.

i think you will find it extraordinarily rare that someone is not treated due to budget concerns in the UK. The typical scenario being cancer treatment that costs£ 30,000-50,000 per a year + other medical fees (potentially for many years) for a treatment that has no guarantee of success AND the patient has many complicating factors that would mean there would be very high risks of failure or death by other causes. Even then it is rare. The NHS will throw hundreds of thousands of pounds to save a patients life where possible and necessary.

Treating HIV is good for public health. End of story.

What would be better for public health is if these poor, diseased immigrants didn't come here in the 1st place and we wouldn't have none of this mess. The NHS is already ****ed and mismanaged, we don't need any more strain on this old rickety horse.

I've never heard of it. It is up to you to provide the evidence for your argument, not for us to look for it.

it's very common in Africa lots of charities are trying to educate them but they still believe it.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Virgin_cleansing_myth

A study by the University Of South Africa (UNISA) revealed that one million women and children are raped yearly. A survey carried out by UNISA at the Daimler Chrysler plant in East London found that 18 percent of the 498 laborers inquired thought that having sex with a virgin cures HIV/AIDS. An earlier study in 1999 by sexual health educators in Gauteng - the country's economic hub - revealed that 32 percent of the survey participants' questions disclosed that that they believed the myth.[8]

Surely this will lead to the unintended consequence of every single person with HIV coming to the UK? If you were in a poor country and had HIV why wouldn't you?

Only if you completely ignore the fact that it is extremely difficult to immigrate to the UK if you are not an EU citizen or you life in danger due to persecution.

If one could simply enter the UK and exploit the system with such ease then half the African continent would have already moved to the UK.
Consider that many hundred of millions of Africans walk many miles each day just to get drinking water, they have absolutely no physical means of ever entering the UK, let alone possessing any means of immigration.

Border controls are a joke, did you miss the last Border Agency debacle?

How is this going to be funded and resourced?

Well the article itself does say:

BBC said:
Campaigners say the move in England will reduce the risk of Britons being infected and cut the costs of more expensive later treatment.

So you pay a little upfront to mean you pay less later.

Are Scotland and Wales overrun by poor people from HIV ridden countries? As this bit of legislation brings us in line with them?

Because quite clearly we'll have roaming hordes -- yes, HORDES -- of uncivilised asylum seekers from Bongo Bongo Land or wherever filling the streets with robbery, murder, rape, and the utterly uncontrollable, wanton and (dare I say) fountainous spreading of infected bodily fluids amongst the uninfected population; all with total gleeful abandon.

amirite?

:p;)

Fountainous! It is like a fuzzy-wuzzy cumfest out there!

I'm all for deporting people who deserve to be deported.

But if we can help another suffering human being(Regardless of immigration status) , Why should the fact we have to pay for it stop us. Are things really that bleak now that we'd rather save money than give away money to help someone suffering?
