WII U to little to late?

I'm getting one. It has a lot of hardcore and adult focused ganesh announced. I like the idea of the tab. And wit motionplus and user accounts im sure its on to a winner

There's only one thing that would make me buy the new Wii and thats a Pokemon MMO.

But knowing Nintendo that won't happen.

I just can't see anyone buying a whole new console for a Call Of Duty they can already play on their existing one, especially as it will likely be a lesser experience in many aspects:

1. Controls - Is it even getting a normal controller? Who wants to play COD with a dinner plate?

2. Friends - Unless all your friends want to buy a new console as well you're more likely to want to play with them

3. Online - Will Ninty manage to match XBL and PSN? It's a tall order.

Cod is great on wii with the wiimote and nunchuck. I cant play console FPS with dual stick pads anymore.

CARS stands for Community Assisted Race Sim, I think the dev's are trying to make something like say R-Factor but on a more commercial popular scale.

I believe the concept is the creativity otential of moddable race games but contained within the cars sytem and on all platforms (pc, console etc.)

Hardly bad sales really. Plus Nintendo profited from them unlike Sony + MS seem to struggle with.

Nintendo only made so much money on the wii as it was underpowered compared to its rivals and had much lower production costs. This time Nintendo will be putting higher priced hardware into its console so they won't be swimming in cash even if it does do well as they will probably be making a loss on the console at release(unlike the wii).

Some tech specs:

Launches: 2012

Size: Approximately 1.8 inches tall, 6.8 inches wide and 10.5 inches long.

New Controller: Approximately 5.3 inches high, 0.9 inches deep (not including buttons and other projections) and 9.0 inches long. The new controller incorporates a 6.2-inch, 16:9 touch screen and traditional button controls, including two analog Circle Pads. This combination removes the traditional barriers between games, players and the TV by creating a second window into the video game world. The rechargeable controller includes a Power button, Home button, +Control Pad, A/B/X/Y buttons, L/R buttons and ZL/ZR buttons. It includes a built-in accelerometer and gyroscope, rumble feature, camera, a microphone, stereo speakers, a sensor strip and a stylus.

Other Controls: Up to four Wii Remote™ (or Wii Remote Plus) controllers can be connected at once. The new console supports all Wii™ controllers and input devices, including the Nunchuk™ controller, Classic Controller™, Classic Controller Pro™ and Wii Balance Board™.

Media: A single self-loading media bay will play 12-centimeter proprietary high-density optical discs for the new console, as well as 12-centimeter Wii optical discs.

Video Output: Supports 1080p, 1080i, 720p, 480p and 480i. Compatible cables include HDMI, component, S-video and composite.

Audio Output: Uses AV Multi Out connector. Six-channel PCM linear output through HDMI.

Storage: The console will have internal flash memory, as well as the option to expand its memory using either an SD memory card or an external USB hard disk drive.

CPU: IBM Power®-based multi-core microprocessor.

GPU: AMD Radeon™-based High Definition GPU.

Other: Four USB 2.0 connector slots are included. The new console is backward compatible with Wii games and Wii accessories.

Note: Details are subject to change.

The line up of games looks impressive to say the least.

How many people got excited about the Wii to only use for a few weeks then boxed back up or just sold it because it sucked? Everybody I know did just that including me. I don't think I want to be burned by a crap console again. That money could have been better spent.

Also I assume anyone other than a Wii owner will likely just wait for the 3rd Gen Xbox and PS4. I don't think it will fail it'll do well because there' a lot of people that will always buy what Nintendo produce no mater how good or rubbish it is.

I will be getting a Wii-U once a Zelda has been released for it. I don't care if it was 480p or 1080p, as long as there is a new Zelda.

I have a Wii and love it. Granted I don't play it as much as I would like, but that is because of the online. I hardly even play my PS3 anymore, i prefer to play on PC.

From now on consoles for me will be for First-Party titles and PC for multiplatform. So for my tastes, Nintendo offers the most exciting first party titles available

Agreed. My PC is basically an uber 360 these days. I'll probably pick up all the consoels eventually for the exclusives, but PC + Nintendo console is a must.

Looking at the upcoming titles video I'm really disappointed =/
For a machine supposedly more powerful then current gen, all be it only slightly, the graphics look worse then the best current gen titles imo.

Especially Tekken! it looks like a 2004 arcade title! and if its still heavily under development then why show something looking so terrible.

Anyone that did, missed out on some fantastic games in the end. To be honest I wasnt much a fan of the Wii, to the point I didnt buy one. But the JRPG range on the console now has made me need one.

I don't know of any actual real Wii-U work in progress, samples or anything else. I expect E3 will be the 1st we'll see of them, unless they get leaked.

It's significantly more powerful.
