WII U to little to late?

Really looking forward to the Wii U.

Still regularly play on our Wii - Mario Kart, Mario Bros, Galaxy 2, Smash Bros, Zelda (spot a pattern) and the wife prefers Zumba and Wii Fit.

Just hope it isn't ridiculously expensive!

If its coming out this year you would think the specs would have been announced by now. That's going to be the deal breaker but more than likely I'll be waiting till the next box or ps4.

As I've stated above, I feel totally disheartend with nintendo, I don't think it'll be a successful as the wii either.

In the absence of any new mediums like blu-ray, I imagine I'll be plumping for the cheapest out of xbox and playstation.

In which case it looks even worse.
Nintendo shouldn't have shown anything until they had something worthwhile to show

There hasn't been any Wii-U trailers, screen shots or any other images from any running Wii-U hardware. What you seen aint any Wii-U footage.

I'm guessing that will be E3 stuff, unless its leaked a bit before.

The DS was a masterpiece, but the 3DS seems to be fairly disappointing. The Wii had some great games in a sea of utter rubbish.

I don't have the money to risk on the Wii U being similarly dicey...

I don't think MS have mentioned what media the new Xbox will be using. The Wii-U will be using a custom format (25gb media), which could be based on blu-ray or HD-DVD media.

I'll be getting a Wii-U. I'm a sucker for Zelda and Mario.

Nintendo must be on the right track controller wise. If the rumor that the next Xbox will have a similar controller, is to be believed.

The screen controller looks like a horrible touch screen from the late nineties as well, with similar visual (lack of) quality and build. It's really obvious they want to make it affordable but you can only go so far with such an ambitious setup while trying to keep it under 300. My mobile phone costs 350 alone and is less than half the size so how can an entire console support a controller that matches my mobile phone in quality and stay cheaper?

I hope it can do something to improve old wii games graphically, really put me off playing skyward sword after playing skyrim for ages, such a big drop in graphic quality but it still looks fine running on the emulator.

Think it's already known to be a resistive screen, which is probably better for what they want to do with it.

The 3DS, despite a slow start, is actually doing quite now isn't it? And having been glued to Mario Kart 7 for the past two days I can see why. Lots of improvements of the DS and the graphics are lovely for a handheld.

I'm keeping the faith.

I'm so bored of hearing ******** so I'm just gonna post the current specs;

3Ghz 4 Core PowerPC CPU.
AMD (6xxx series) graphic chipset with 512MB (1.3Ghz) of dedicated GDDR5 memory.
1GB of DDR (3.2Ghz) system memory (512MB on retail machine)
16MB L2 Cache

From that we really have no better idea of how powerful this full be but it's clear that it'll be much more powerful than the PS360

Also Ubisoft have announced Assassins Creed 3 will be released for Wii U in 2012...probably will launch a little later but good news all the same.

3rd parties getting on board.

Got a source for these specs? I haven't seen them posted anywhere.

No, i won't be getting the Wii U. Nintendo's games just don't do it for me anymore, it's the same rehashed titles every generation. It comes to the point you don't enjoy their games.

For me personally, the SNES was Nintendo's best home console and they've never bettered it. Each console after that has been a huge disappointment i.e. N64, Gamecube, Wii.

Nothing will change with the Wii U, Nintendo's third party support will still be awful, their online infrastructure will still be light years behind the competition and there will be little new IP from them. They'll play it safe, rehashing the same old IP.

I'm sure Nintendo will be fine as their fans will buy anything they produce. But their systems and games aren't for me...

They've been floating around for up to a year I think... At least six months.

I like my wii, but I've only really bought first party games... Zelda, mario kart etc...

If the rumours are true, the graphical difference between Nintendo and Microsoft will be far less this time around. If they can get the major franchises on their platform, it stands a good chance of being a success.

Having existing wii controllers working with the machine is a bonus as well, and might attract some of the casual market they have developed.
