Those idle temps are warm though. Mine idles at 31c and I have the heating on.
965BE @ 4Ghz. Thermolab Baram, Noctua Fan (single). MX4.
I never could work out why some people say idle temperatures do not matter. There's so many factors come into this and if it's high to begin with, the load temperature will be higher as well.
I've seen some people here recently and the heatsink (aftermarket) wasn't quite mounted perfectly. So because of that after the refit, their idle and load temperatures dropped down by 7 - 10 degrees.
Central heating.
Size of case.
Case ambient.
Position of case in a room.
How many fans. (Size, speed and positions)
How messy a case is.
How good the air flow in the case is. (Can fall back to case position or a room with lack of fresh air)
What kind of heatsink. (As we know already)
Kind of paste. (We know that too. Though there are always some that throw it about like toothpaste, or too little)
How has the CPU/Heatsink been cleaned. (I've seen people clean their CPU/heatsinks and there's still a slight greasy film from the previous paste)
Was it a rushed job. (Heatsink temporarily placed on then back off. Areas contaminated with fingerprints... it does happen)
Even tissue fibers from the cleaning fluids as they dry.
So many factors.
Smoky environment can be terrible as well over months/years. Mucky/greasy contaminated surfaces as well as clogging up fins.
