Twitter - Trending - Hashtags

I quite like twitter. You guys that don't just don't use it.

Also if #thisannoysyousomuch #youhaveproblems

Why on earth people feel the need to bitch about something so trivial that they dont have to use is beyond me.
That goes for the people who think they're too cool for facebook too.

presumably because twitter appears everywhere and not just on twitter?

You have to follow the individual newscast anchor people to get breaking news...lol..REALLY?

You seriously took that from what he said?

Let me give you some examples. Twitter was floating with messages about the deaths of Whitney Houston and Frank Carson along time before it came to the news.

So if you follow an individual, you'll generally get updates of News that individual is privy to. And with it being a News caster, possibly stuff that hasnt been aired yet!

It's a very difficult concept I understand. ;)

Then don't use twitter. Or just ignore the tags.

It's not a difficult concept to grasp, I don't like Facebook, I don't use Facebook, I don't like text speak, I don't use text speak.

Welcome to the wonderful world of free will.

I know, right!?

OP if all you have to worry about are these trivial things, then I envy you!

You mean when the updates cross over to facebook? That's just saving you from posting on 2 networks, Efficient if anything. Crying about the hashtag at the end is just silly. You can see that the update has come from twitter.

Trends can be very good ways of discovering news, especially on transfer deadline day.

The problem I find is all the fanboys on there, such as the "beliebers" and "Cheryl soldiers", they fill the trends with pointless stuff that doesn't matter at all. Ohh it was Justin Bieber's birthday was it? Brilliant my life is now complete that I know that...

What...by 20mins ( if even with multiple news sources) or so?....I just cant understand how learning of something you have no control over is really that important lol. And as its been shown in the past, Twitter is not always a reliable news source, the point of journalists and broadcasters is they verify certain details etc, id rather wait a few mins and get a better picture of whats going on the a small sentence about it.

Twitter is fun and can be educational. You can tailor it to your exact individual needs. I use it mainly two reasons, one is to follow companies who often show current deals (and to stay up to date with affairs which matter to me).

My secondary reason is to follow friends and family, since I don't use Facebook this works out well for me.

True enough about the Credibility. Lots of fake trending going on. Which is annoying.

But the way twitter works can be great. for instance, I have a list setup, which means I only see tweets from people added to that list. Within that list I have rockstar games, Bethesda, Square Enix, Capcom, Sony. And basically any other Gaming Developer I like. Using that list I see all the very latest News releases from those companies. I have other lists set up for my favourite bloggers and pod casts, and I have one setup called Nerds which is just a list of all my Nerdy friends who have interesting stuff to say.

Twitter is really effective when set up correctly. I have a friends list too where I can see what my friends are upto obviously, but theres never anything interesting in there :p Just the usual facebook type spam.

I use Twitter a lot. It's my 'professional' face and I use it for all things educational (I'm a teacher). People can follow me, or list my tweets, if my tweets are worthwhile and I see a lot of information first hand over Twitter first. There's also a very good collaborative group of teaching staff that use Twitter.

But I tell you what, if I could block anything Bieber/Gaga/One Direction/#bssextweets then I would. My trending would be far more relevant then.

I created an account but never use it, the thing is pointless, mainly people just telling the world about their boring life that nobody really cares about

on way to work
its cold out
i hate the busy trains
i like this song
i ate a sandwich for lunch
lol a pigeon just pooped

this is 99% of the crap that is twitter

Thats not the case atall. Unless you have unconnected friends on there. Most my twitter feed is full of links, images, videos, blogs. And because I only follow people with relevant interests to mine. Generally all of the above are of interest to me.

Twitter really isnt as lame as you make it sound. Unless like I say, Your friends on it are boring.

My Twitter feed as of now.

A guy giving away a copy of his Ebook for free via amazon
A guy pointing out his first blue screen on Windows 8
A guy talking about the new twitter app he's trying out on his android phone
A retweet containing A cool quote about homophobia and homosexuality
A guy complaining about his shopto account status still being bronze
A guy posting up a technical support thread involving his router and a cat

No pigeons pooping...

Thats not boring ???

Android, kindle, operating systems and mocking the narrow minded. All at a glance on my twitter feed. I don't find that boring no. And that's without viewing twitter via my lists which filters out crap. Boring is tedious posts about Jeremy Kyle or what they're eating. Tech and poking fun at idiots. Well that's not boring to me.
