Hey folks after trolling through the forums i have decided that a 2gb 6950 (possibility to oc) would prolong the life of my machine.

My question is what brand would be the most reliable?

I used to only buy XFX but from trolling around here i can see that they have lost their rep as one of the better gfx card guys.
 
I've got the MSI Twin Frozr one, and only had problems when I tried to flash it, if you leave it alone its fine. But I haven't seen it on OCUK for ages
 
I'm gonna suggest the MSI TwinFrozrIII.
Decent Warranty, great build quality, quiet and cool.
Also has the dual bios switch (or mine did when I bought them a few month back)

The dual bios is pointless though, you can't flash the MSI Twin Frozr III to the 6970 bios, it just bricks the card
 
hmm don't have £200 to throw away so perhaps oc'ing them would be just to risky.

7850 and the 7970 - going to have a look around and see if i can find some sort of estimated price.
do you think these new cards will be better that the 6950? and think they will be similar in price?

** the whole idea for this build is that it is ready for May 1st for Tera eu release date

Speaking from first hand experience, if you do get the MSI Twin Frozr III, don't even bother trying to unlock it, it will handle pretty much anything you throw at it anyway

This is the best advice. The performance gain from unlocking the shaders is almost non-existant. If you overclock it to 6970 speeds like I have then you still get the extra performance and makes it equivalent to a 6970.

MSI afterburner will allow you to overclock it past 6970 speeds at stock voltage even if you don't unlock the shaders / extra overclocking. I have the MSI 6950 Twin Frozr III overclocked to the same speed as a 6970 and it runs at about 60C with no problems at all.

Any unlocking or overclocking carried some risk and does not work with all cards.
