*****Official Star Wars: The Old Republic Thread*****

All the 1.2 trailer has done for me is make me realise just how much was missing upon launch. I mean an MMO released in late 2011 without Guild banks and customisable UI?

When is 1.2 supposed to come out then?

Hmmm, depends when it's out and if population issues have been looked at, definitely don't want to play a new operation as it stands. Plus I'd have to find a new guild as a returnee player, eugh. Just so I can watch them all quit again.

It's going to be too close to two other MMO releases for me to care, meh.

For example, the United States government fiscal year for 2012 ("FY 2012" or "FY12") is as follows:
1st Quarter: October 1, 2011 - December 31, 2011
2nd Quarter: January 1, 2012 - March 31, 2012
3rd Quarter: April 1, 2012 - June 30, 2012
4th Quarter: July 1, 2012 - September 30, 2012

It was always going to be April tbh.

Seems some media sites are getting info now as well as the guild summit folks http://uk.pc.ign.com/articles/121/1219843p1.html

Nerfs to Bounty Hunter/Trooper and new abilities for Sith Warriors/Jedi Knights with 1.2 along with other class tweaks. Only to be expected of course.

Class changes in 1.2 include new abilities for the Warrior and the Knight, a nerf for the Bounty Hunter, and more. Every class will receive changes, and all skill tree points refunded so you can look over the trees again before deciding how to rebuild your class. "Some players will be excited, some might not. That's always the case when there's tweaks to classes."
This next part shows Bioware has no idea what the players want from open world PvP, we want sides, guilds and players to hate, love or just want to beat. Removing PvP rewards from Ilum will give us nothing as the game has no in game politics whatsoever as things stand due to next to no PvP on the way to 50 outside of warzones and nothing to fight over once you get to Ilum.

Over the next months it seems as though the focus of player versus player combat is going to be adjusted quite a bit, as BioWare is on the verge of changing the reward structure. Soon there will no longer be any daily or weekly quests to visit Ilum, the end-game open PvP area. Ilum will still exist as a destination for those interested in open PvP, but it won't be a place to earn commendations for end game PvP armor. "We're keeping Ilum as-is. But I think almost all of our problems that occur in open world PvP are because of the fact that the rewards there, the behavior was less about having fun in that area and more about exploiting to get the rewards faster. We know there is a big contingent of players who are fans of open world PvP and we have a lot of experience, especially on the Mythic team, of working on it. We're going to have more announcements on what we're following up with to give those fans what they're looking for." After 1.2, all end game rewards will be handed out through Warzone participation, which includes Huttball, Void Star, Alderaan Civil War and, after update 1.2, Novare Coast.

Some people in this thread think you can't have story without being "special" or having it revolve around you?

Talk about complete and utter lack and void of imagination!

I agree. I feel the same about single player RPGs to an extent. Why can't we just play a character who happens to be thrown into the middle of a great story. I don't mean playing as a farmer or peasant but being able to be a bounty hunter, assassin, thief rather than always being "the chosen one", "dragon born", "god spawn", etc?

Has high texture problems been sorted out? and Does Twi'leks have hoods now?

am guessing no?
Hi res character models are in 1.2, i don't think the world textures are changing and no clue on Twilek hoods, I haven't seen any mention of that. Most of the info will start coming out after 8pm tonight. Live stream here when it starts up again http://lifetapt.enjin.com/

Pretty embarrassing having a guy speak about Operations who hadn't even seen the slides and had to read them as they came up :/

Well he is the Operations designer so I'm sure he knows most of it. It would have been better if he just spoke with out the slides but as its a presentation, slides are the norm, plus as he mentioned he just flew back from Oz.

Even so; could have seen them prior unless it wasn't meant to be him presenting

Either way - so far all sounding pretty good... War Hero gear! :D

I wanna see Legacy stuff!!!

I agree, could have emailed them to him and viewed them on the plane but then again been to many presentations and you get told last min about things.

Yes game going in the right direction. Game was clearly pushed out for Christmas, a lot of "we didn't have time to get this in launch" references!

Notice they said it's not valor ranked? I find that awesome especially after i worked my ass off to get to 70 and a couple of people in my guild relaxed in ilum to get 20 levels higher in a tenth of the time. I really hope they do something to make a divide between being good and crap in pvp performance with gaining ranked wz commendations.

Well pretty happy with the info from yesterdays summit. I know most will argue (myself included) a lot of these features should have been ready for launch. But for whatever reason the game launched without them and in a fairly short space of time they are making some pretty decent steps forward.

IMO while the devs may have made some bad choices and missed vital features, they are showing long term commitment to improving and adding to the game and this is a good thing. At this rate the game could look very different in the next 6 months and maybe when the shine of the next big MMO has worn off (GW2) and the MMO community again realises things are not what they hoped for, some may return to SWTOR.

I welcome the armour set colour changes and removal of T2 mods to place in orange gear. Not many MMO's allow players to look truly unique and SWTOR is making a step in the right direction; real choice on saber colours, choice on which items are worn, more orange crafting recipes etc.

Also with PvP being my main focus the rated WZ system and allowing same faction WZs will be a great addition. PvP in SWTOR is something I really enjoy especially from the tank point of view.

All in all a step in right direction if not a little behind schedule/
