Just noticed that this has been released, interestingly it's only £104 (£59 for the updated), less than half of what I paid for Lightroom 3.

Decent pricing for once. Not read that great things about it though. Still I will likely buy it for that price.

Surprised at this comment, heard nothing but great things about 4. A lot of improvements.

Personally I have been using the Beta version and finding it very good and at that price you can't go wrong.

so if im using 3 at the mo can i just upgrade without lossing anything or will my library and templates etc be borked? cant be arsed with it if they are.

I've seen a lot of people complaining about the performance, so I think i'll hold off until more people have had a bash with it / benchmarks are out.

The retail version has fixed most of the performance issues, like slider lag etc.

It's running OK on my E8400 + 2GB RAM machine. :D

Well have to admit that I haven't noticed too much slowness but might be due to a higher spec pc with 8 gig ram.

Import of RAW files was slow but not noticed anything in use.

Add to that it was a Beta version,

Only £59 full retail for students. Win!

Well, it's not really "full retail" because there's more restrictions on it than a normal copy. I'm not convinced the education version has enough of a discount to warrant the more restricted license agreement now - I'll probably get the normal version.

Oh I didn't realise that.. Where does it say that/what kind of restrictions?

You can't resell it and you can't use it as an upgrade to a subsequent version.

Not really restrictive tbh, a second hand version is hardly worth much especially at the cost of L4.

Originally made it seem like there were application restrictions which there aren't it is a full version.

Yeah I thought you meant application restrictions as well. When you say you can't upgrade, that means I have to uninstall 3 before installing 4 or something?
