Which SSD? M4 or Intel 520

I'd have gone with the Intel at TWO prices, 5 year vs three year warranty, a performance edge and it's bound to be rock solid - Intel have spent a year validating the firmware to make sure it's stable.

Stick with the M4, you'll hardly notice any difference between the two. I have one for gaming and it's been more than brilliant so far.

Cheers for the reply Orcvader. Was just contemplating then, it was mainly for the name I wanted to go with the Intel as the benchmark graphs and iflops whatever meant nothing to me :) Its 30 quid extra but are the differences worth it?

Shaf what did you get in the end?

The Intel does look good......

I've not hit the buy button yet.

The wise choice seems to still be the M4 judging from the responses.

The Intel is still new but I can't see them being bad drives to be honest. The price is good, faster writes and a great 5 year warranty. Are they worth the extra over the M4? For me, I don't think so.

So in summary, it's going to be a M4 but I'm deciding whether to go for the 128 or 256.

Just about to install the M4 I ordered and I'm looking through the Firmware update manual and a lot of it is going over my head.

Is it easy enough to install the firmware?

Do I first take out my old hdd, boot with the update disk and ssd as my C; drive before I install Windows on to it?

or leave my old hdd installed and plug my ssd into D: first then boot with the update, then plug it into C: then install windows?

if you know what I mean sorry it's convoluted.

Thanks.

Cheers for the help guy's.

It was pretty easy in the end. Just booted with the update and no other hdd's then installed Windows as normal not sure if thats correct as I'm sure I read something about changing to AHCI is it? first.

Also I have a small system reserved(:E) partition at 99mb is that correct?

It seems fast though Windows installed in about 12 mins and it boots in around 10 seconds just in the process of installing games and stuff now.

Stinger I downloaded the 9.5mm ones as that was the number I think I recall seeing in the OCs specs. I hope thats right and hope that helps.

Thanks
